I know about the "stickies", but how about a file where we can save favorite threads, that may be of personal use? I'm starting one on my dektop, but that means copying/pasting and they'd be lost if my puter crashed. :(
I'm sure you don't have anything else to do Mike, but it doesn't hurt to...
RE: Towbar end after machining.
You are not a Miller for nothing, that's beautiful!
Between you and Leonard Jones, there is little you couldn't machine to perfection. :-)
You should all see one of them Gattling guns Leonard makes, wow!
Re: RE: Re: RE: Towbar adapter machining... rdixiemiller?
Kind of hard to separate the braking systems in most cases unless you are towing with a truck tractor, right?
RE: Re: RE: Towbar adapter machining... rdixiemiller?
Thanks Robert, please PM me your address and I'll get them in the mail with return postage.
Gimpy, I paid $60 for the pair with pins from Kevin Hilding.
About the electric horn....The original xm757 8x8 was fitted with the electric horn (according to '69 wiring diagrams), but an air horn was added later. Mine now has both installed, but still only have one connected to the steering wheel horn button. I may add a switch for the electric horn one...
Robert, I have these adapters on unknown application, they are too fat to fit the medium towbars and the hole is a bit too large.
I know you machined yours, could you do the same for me and for how much? A sleeve would be needed to snug up the fit too.
Thanks,
PS. I'm asking in public, since...
Same on the xm757...blackout applies to lights only.
The engine noise is still there and a light tap on the horn may be good for a warning for pedestrians and a backing up truck in a convoy situation etc.
Sure there are circuit breakers, check the firewall by the steering wheel (engine side). There is one specifically for the horn and they should reset automatically after about a minute.
I use "Nylon 11" for those lines, 1/4 and 3/8 inch dia milky white or black in color with ferruls for the compression fittings, all standard and like Joseph said, shouldn't be too tight.
McMasters (as once sugested by Robert Miller) carries them with quick delivery.
Joseph, frame to frame connections are copper, cab to cab points are copper, but between cab and frame there is rubber hose (as well as frame to engine). That should elleviate any worries regarding vibration fatigue.
Ethan, the xm757 will see bio/veggie fuels..... copper lines have not been a...
It takes an astounding quantity of fittings to properly run a fuel line.
I'm installing a heated primary fuel filter on the xm757 and the image below is only the feed side, the same number of fittings are needed on the output side.
A fixed coupling is not shown in the picture, which connects the...
For comparison, here is the "standard" one. So the spin-ons are smaller in diameter?
(I flipped a file picure upside down in case you wonder about the background)
Lots of fun exploring a new "find", isn't it? It's like some kind of archeology, I'm going thru the same thing with my latest.
About the chain, call the people in Lois Obispo, maybe they know the history.
Very nice and 1989, almost new, my Isuzu Trooper is older....
The M932A2 will be like a baby sister to my own XM757 truck tractor, fun and congrats on a great haul!
