Thanks, my primary motivation here is to make it work, functional, there is hardly a better way to learn about your beast, than to clean it. I keep finding valves, manifolds and things I never noticed when scanning the manuals. The "bogie manifold" cluster shown above was noting but a ball of...
Sorry SH, the man in the image had been hired to haul everything off to the scrapper. He spent about 5 months hauling everything from engines still in cans to burned out deuces and he got my top as well. It's long gone.
He has a Grove crane on the hook here....
Andy, the "cleaning" involves the use of carpenter's wood chilsels for the layers of mud/oil, several wire brushes, scrubbing with soap and water, rinsing with garden hose and the use of a brake cleaner degreaser.
By priming with Rustoleum as I go along, the task is not so hopeless as progress...

Hmm.....you mean the top is missing? Yes it had a homebuilt job attached when I purchased it and probably a good thing, since it protected the cab very nicely. It was removed as shown below.
A new canvas one, with original...
The inner nuts at least appear to have less contact area on the tapered part. The larger "regular" lug nuts support a larger area as can be seen in the image posted above.
The boots on the xm757 look better! and they are at least ten years old. The images show markings, "TOP" and "oz" also "SPI-2" (on the inside, not pictured).
They were damaged by the grass fire, so I'm not sure how repairable they are after all.
Congrats on making progress, it's a great relief when the engine fires, went through the same back in November (can't believe it's been that long!) with my 5-tonner.
It's also very heavy, about 21,200 lb maybe more with the CTIS. Compare with 16,000 for the equivalent m656 8x8 cargo, which...
Re: RE: Solargizer Placement
I got two of them from a parts M923 a couple of years ago and they were mounted on the cowling in front of the windshield like John stated. Didn't keep them, so don't ask. The m923 has four batteries, as you know and the wires were run behind the dash down to the...
I would not feel safe with inner nuts alone with the relatively small flange. I use mine as steps to get up on the bed, but alternate with regular nuts for increased margin of safety.
Thanks fellows, both Fastenal and Nutsandbolts carry the plain zink coated carbon steel washers, same as McMasters.
I called Fastenal and was told that the cad plated mil-spec washers are available on special order only.
Still looking....
I'm looking for a few good washers (McMasters doesn't have them), hardened, cad plated, internal external tooth, for 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 bolts.
Perhaps 25-50 of each size.
Anybody know a supplier?
Thanks
Chuck, actually we removed all drive shafts except the one between the transfer and transmission to keep the tires from "fighting". The rear one gave us a bit of trouble since it was frozen and only wiggling the bogie made it come loose (see avatar). The rearmost axle was also lifted and chained...
