There are two instruction tags on the front engine cover of the xm757 and from day one, I have wondered about the possibility of reproducing them, they were blank.
Today I thought they were too blank, no sign of any residue from printing. Imagine my surprise, when I unscrewed them and checked...
The hardware, including the "door handle" shown in this TM picture was in the cab of the xm757 when I got it, since I didn't recognize the pieces as something belonging to the truck I put them away. They may even have been tossed in the trash. aua
The rifle butt support is still here...
Congrats Jon!
Drivining slower than everybody else and to have to worry about the extra vehicle can be stressful, to say the least. Sleep well!
You may need to get a cargo cover to keep all that blowing sand off you new truck. :-)
Good progress Chris! Too bad about the bearing snafo.
Did you change the filter in the transmission?
I'm too awed by the multitude of technical features on my own 5-ton to even think about driving it yet. :-)
Snow flurries here this morning....not the best day to get things done outside.
Kenny, how is the torque rod repair going? Please, keep us posted, these things are tricky and I for one would like to know how to replace the rubber part, which must have been torn.
Also how did it come off?
There are lots of them on the xm757 and they are claimed to be "sealed for life"...
The 8x8 wont be ready. Lots of little things to be done and I'm picking away on it. With only 10 weeks left for Aberdeen, I better get the deuce ready and it has some oil pressure issues to be addressed.
It's a matter of money I guess, with more funds on hand, these things could be expedited and...
If you can't get a picture, just write down what's said on each tag, please.....
(It's a standard 5-ton winch mounted upside down and with major parts made of aluminum, nothing special.)
As you can see in the image, the tags are unreadable and I have no pictures in any of the manuals. Any of you have pictures of them?
It's a 5-ton winch and my extra one is also tagged with "blanks".
Thanks.
Hi Chris, the transmission is similar to the one in my 8x8 and is suposed to use 10W oil. Could you check and see if that's what you have in yours? Also, you may want to replace the transmissiuon oil filter while you are at it.
Thanks,
According to TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2 page 196, the flow test is performed at a pressure of 110 psi and is 22gpm minimum. The pump rpm is 3,420, the oil is 30W at a temp of 200 to 210°F.
Have a good trip Jon!
Mapquest tells me that it's a 275 mile trip each way, so your timing may be off some. Figure 12-14 hours for the driving and if you have to drive after dark, get reflective tape at the very least for the towed vehicle.... or maybe you know a shortcut. :-)
RE: Re: RE: Deuce Brakes??
If you want the engine to help in braking, use the lowest possible low gear.
With the fuel cut-off pulled out, there is no fuel and the engine wont start.
Thanks James, the hardest part is to clean and prep the surface. Once the paint is on, a new layer (of a different brand) is trivial in comaprison.
Here is a section of the rear primed for paint.
The Aervoe (997B) 24084 is such a perfect match, that I'll do the unthinkable, go with Aervoe for now, I can always repaint it later. It's available, low cost and I already have some.
