Good job, Joel! Good thing it's not a show truck, the locust decking is far from perfect, but will last a life time. :-)
It's kept indoors until we decide on the method of delivery.
Like I said in a different post, this is a mil spec engine, designed to work to 40 or more below. The reason for the upside down positioning of the filter canisters is to allow them to drain into the pan where the oil can be heated (think arctic kit) for starts at temps that would otherwise not...
The compressor is lubricated by engine oil. What you see in the inboard tank may be some oil that has bypassed the piston also remember that the compresor air intake is located within the engine compartment and perhaps some oil comes from a small leak thown about by the fan.
The outboard, "dry"...
Do a final rinse with alcohol, that will take care of any left over moisture even mix with the fuel and burn it harmlessly. See "Heet" and other winter fuel treatment products.
Bruce, as for rebuilding, see MVM article in June 2002 issue #91.
To confirm that the air is released, open the gladhand on the driver's side at rear of vehicle. The air pressure at this connection is the same as what's applied to the large piston within the airpak.
If it's not being vented...
You are right RAM, not much you can do except perhaps get the corrosion off the contacts.
Also, there is a 20 amp circuit breaker inside.
I agree with you on the new switch. Some things can't be made better, just differently and in this case, less welll thought out.
I have routinly seen 12 psi in the hills with my "D" turbo, usually associated with an EGT of 1,150°F or so and I ease off. Less for biodiesel/veggie...
I think you are correct Robert, the 14.50r20 uses a wider rim, 11 to 12 inches which is perfect for the xm757. the 395/85r20 is spec'ed for a 10 inch rim. According to the michelin data sheet, they are both rated at 55-56 mph max.
How much did you fork out for those and who carries them...
You may not have known it, but there was a larger size NDCC tire made, the 16R20 or 16-20 NDCC used on the XM757/M656/XM791 8x8 trucks. It's a low profile radial on a 12 inch wide rim here shown with the 900-20 NDCC. Designed for tubeless operation and only 30psi on the highway.
They measure...
RE: Coolant filter mounting, accessible valve for heater cor
Well thought out job, looks great too! It's a good idea to be able to turn off loops that are not needed, if they all remained open then there would be a corresponding reduction in flow. I also use ball valves as back-up after a...
Sounds good David, and yes they are military unused from an M151 marker light mod kit.
The two in a package weighs 5 oz, so postage shouldn't amount to much.
Clean looking install, Patrick.
Illuminating the dash gauges in the fashion described is a good idea. Fiddling with the location of the filament in the original fixtures is not working that well. I have a small flashlight handy for night time driving. :-)
Has anyone thought of simply repairing a ripped boot?
I have four torn boots on the xm757 and no idea where to find replacements, so I'm planning to try to repair one for starters since the rubber doesn't look terribly bad....
The zippers were not sealed when installed last, so removing them in...
