The tanks have two baffles inside and it's very difficult to clean the baffled off areas. I cut access openings in the tank I'm preparing for the xm757. The tank comes from an M52A2 5-ton tractor and will receive a heating coil and temperature sending probe(s) as well.
The circular access holes...
Albion, I have an extra one of these, 20,000 lb "5-ton" winch. It's mounted upside down in this application and has a chain/sprocket drive. See the particulars in the classified section.
This was written by "MilitaryLightMan" in a different thread:
"...Lastly, concerning the LED Blackout Drive lamps, there is no comparrison to the Grote Lamp. The older incandescent versions put out very little light and were terrible to drive with. The Truck-Lite version was a vast imrpovement...
Thanks Mike, I have seen them, was looking for a swap, don't need these.
I'm trying to streamline my operation and reduce the extra parts count to 9,998 plus instead of having to deal with the 10,000 plus number of parts laying around. :-)
Hypothetically, if I didn't "know" about the plates where would they be shown? The exploded view below is rather complete down to the fasteners, but no plates are shown.
My two "new" pumps (to be used on the xm757) lack these plates....
Thanks Mark.
The reason for asking is that the blackout driving light on the xm757/m656 trucks WITH winch is sometimes mounted behind the extension that holds the winch and the headlight assy's and would not illuminate the ground very well for the the driver of that truck.
Re: Heater DUCTS
Have not been using the deuce much since last October, but the two tank system worked well last winter, when it was tested down to about 20°F. Used it throughout the cross country trip with up to 80% veggie oil in the main heated tank.
The fuel lines and the primary filter are...
Found this statement while researching the matter:
"...The lamp also had a metal hood similar to a baseball cap’s bill built in to it to make it invisible from the sky. The name B/O Driving Light confused many people. The main purpose was not to help the driver see the terrain; rather it was...
Got one at Barstow last year for $75.00. They had a bin filled with them all take-offs in pretty bad shape mostly, but they tested it. Jon was there.
Don't know about the plate situation though, need to check that out, thanks for the reminder Leonard. Robert Miller posted something about the...
Does anybody have an "official" view of the illumination pattern of the BO driving light as seen from the side? I'd prefer a diagram from a TM if possible.
Thanks,
A couple of years ago I made a circuit that chopped the 24vdc into a square wave and tested some 12 volt bulbs with it, worked perfectly.
Small "black box" needed to be installed when hauling a 12 volt trailer. Doesn't work any 12 volt braking system, though.
In conclusion, let me say that it's...
With or without the FDC it's still a multifuel engine, you may have a slight loss of power when mixing gasoline in the fuel or a gain of power if you are running on #2 diesel.
The FDC only adjusts the amount of fuel delivered, does nothing to the combustion of it.
If you are using...
Why not use the port provided? It's a 1/2 inch pipe plug (you need a 3/8" square driver to remove), a little hard to get to, but it's there.
Good news about the "time to oil pressure", the oil cooler holds about one pint of oil btw.
RE: MORE PICS!!
Welcome to the 5-ton family Chris! Beautiful truck, looks like a lot of back breaking work ahead with all the oversized parts. :-)
Chad, welcome to the site, it's been a while since Charleston, I think Chris will need your help to get this one done in time for Aberdeen.
