Ethan, this is a "take-off" ether kit. The wires on the solenoid are marked "GND" and "55". Wire #55 is the supply for the flame heater system and comes from the switch on the dash.
Does your kit have the 20°F switch? It is part of the circuit to disable the ether system for temps above 20...
Just curious, but who made your mullti? My deuce has a Hercules and the XM757 has a Continental.
If you list something under "other" let me know and I'll add that to the poll.
Glad it worked out for you Amy! I have been on the receiving end of the assistance offered from the people on this list and it's a great comfort factor when out there alone. Sorry, I couldn't help you here, don't know much about the CUCV's.
I'm posting this picture again because to me it's a...
Too bad, properly maintained the batteries will last for 5 or more years. Actually have over six years on a pair, now moved to the 8x8. Got new ones for the trip to the West coast.
Like a very firm jelly. I do put it over the logs and light it with some paper to get the temp up. It then burns and runs all over the logs getting everything started good. When hot enough, it burns cleanly without smoke by itself too.
The bypass filter I'm referring to is not a back-up filter system, it's a filter which extends the capability of the original filters and filters the oil to a much finer micron level continously.
A "by pass" filter will filter all the oil to the level determined by its micron rating, it just...
I have "tons" of glycerine, did make a batch of soap last year, good soap actually use some daily. To get rid of the buckets of glycerine, I burn a fair amount, it works very well as a fire starter in the mornings (fireplace and wood stove).
Also, check your batteries and make sure they are charged, if not they may crack in the cold.
To check your freeze protection and acidity of your coolant use dip strips, "Cooltrak" shown, costs about $8/jar of 50ea on line. Some coolant mixes require custom test strips, Fleetguard among other.
Yes, Will, the now more efficient cooling system will keep the op temp lower. I use my home made radiator cover at all times, even on my trip out West and back. Only removed it for long mountain climbs with the trailer in tow. It cools very quickly when driving down hill.
To fill the system, I...
Funny, me too, there used to be a company in Joliet, Illinois, that made Magnetic amplifier kits for hobbyists, but they went out of business in the sixties, guess when solid state devices took over for the duration. Should have a couple of books on the subject...
Brandon, I have the '66 operator's manual and for whatever reason that towbar is not shown.
IMHO, the towbar in the image above looks awfully small for a 10 tonner.
I'll sell you my heavy 80 inch set (no adapters) if you are interested. :-) Delivery to Aberdeen included. PM me if so.
That passage is, of course, the input for the oil cooler, that's why I thought that it may be bypassed (see my post above) and oil temp monitoring will be important..... I'm stubborn, I'll do it my way...now let's see, what set of gauges will I need for this... :-)
A 24 volt charger should only be used if the internal resistances of the two series connected batteries are identical.
Precision battery maintainers, such as Chargetek 500, monitor each battery separately.
If the batteries are of the same brand, same age same discharge pattern (no 12 V tap for...
