Inverted flare is the same military or commercial. I use my brake tubing flaring kit and the inverted flare connections rarily leak. It is the double flaring procedure. Hard to overtighten.
For the pipe threads, make sure they are pipe threads (=tapered) and not straight. I had some problems...
....goverened at a higher rpm (2,800), higer oil pump capacity (29 gpm vs 22) and IP set for higher fuel delivery (90 lb/hr vs 80 and 64 for the "-1" and deuce respectively).....
Yes, same exhaust manifold.
As seen in the image below, the clear space in front of the 5th wheel is about 1/2 of what I have found on other truck-tractors.
Is this truck designed for only one type trailer? Goose neck type trailers only, like the M269/M270 or is there enough room for trailers like the M313 or M750 for...

5-ton (M39): 2945-00-240-1684
5-ton (M923): Same as deuce horn

As you know by now, the primary role for the M656 series 8x8 trucks was that of servicing the Pershing missle system.
The XM757's were used for a good 15 years and then replaced with 10-ton tractors, M983 and/or MAN trucks.
The missile erector/launcher was equipped with a small crane to...
