I once estimated the power dissipation capacity for each of the service brake drums to be about 12,000 watts. If you try to dublicate that with a single disc, it will get very hot.
RE: Re: RE: WARNING - DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid
FWIW, I had DOT 5 and DOT 3 mixed in an uncovered jar sitting on a work bench for about a year and they were still two distinct layers when I discarded the sample....
Looks like it will work Ryan. If your "project box" has a gasket, make sure you drill a small vent hole in the bottom. Condensation will otherwise fill it with water. Constant changes in barometric pressure will pump humid air past any rubber type seal. That's why I like to use hermetically...
Worse yet, water collected at low points will freeze.
I may be alone with the opinion that a bit of DOT 3 added to DOT 5 may be beneficial to keep water from freezing. Well I said it.
Personally I like and use DOT 3, cheaper, always available and can handle water.
The GMT may be fancy and international, but a bugger to deal with for 99.9 % of us without signing in, especially with a date change to boot. What are the chances of having it changed to a US time zone?
Do we need to set up a poll for majority opinion?
Thanks,
Thanks for the input Mike, but Memphis does not have the boots and NAPA may have the tubular portion of the duct works, but hardly the diverter or nozzle parts, typically shown here.
Thanks Kenny, if I had the funds, I'd stock up on all the parts for this rarther rare piece of equipment. It's the little things that will be a problem, such as steering knuckle boots and ducts for the heating system etc.
Too costtly to replace the M-series trucks it ended up with the Pershing missile battalions in Europe primarily. Perhaps only 500 built.
The companion cargo version was designed to "swim". They are all aluminum except for the frame, of course.
Lots of nice features, see other threads started by...
What relays did you end up with? The mil spec ones won't need an enclosure. I'll post a picture later of my relay set mounted behind the companion seat.
Almost at the end of this thread. Installed all links this afternoon, after all ball joints were nice and smoth. The caps were sealed and primed, for painting later.
I can now turn the steering wheel with very little effort with both front axles on blocks. :-)
Still need to chase a couple of...
Doc, are you still running the 22" wheels Jim installed? You may have issues we are not familiar with.
Make sure the yokes are aligned correctly on all drive shafts as suggested by the gentleman from the UK.
Good to hear from you!

Silicone is tricky to use, the surface should really be primed for the sealant to stick. When we encapsulated electronics with silicone, we had to use a primer for it to stick.
The best silicone based sealer I have found around town is the Marine "Goop", it will stick, must have some built-in...
