I don't know Ray - but I just went through the DMV run-around over the last few months trying to register my M925A2. I finally achieved success and received my title and plates a few weeks ago.
Every situation is different so I don't know if I can help... but what is it you're having problems...
CARB Compliant?.... He!! no... That's why you can't use these trucks commercially in CA. (fleet operation)
Essentially any pre 1994 truck would now need a 2010 engine installed.
Fortunately it doesn't matter for non-commercial use.
Well... Good news!
The official CA title came today, and it reflects the correct Year/Model information. What a relief! No more worrying about having a "2012 BMY".
Now, the last step in this process is to apply for the 'Historic Vehicle' License Plates - which, to do, needed the title. Why...
Too funny! This actually made me feel better about my DMV experience.... At least they got the Make correct.
Although, a BMW would be cool too. "BMW M Series" fits pretty well. Better then the Stanley Steamer... Unless you're cleaning carpets. Still laughing..
Here's an interesting fact about AAA. I don't know when you went there but they were my 1st choice to attempt the registration process (May of 2016). The reasons pure and simple that they are easy to deal with and I've never had a problem (except forgetting that I need cash or check only)...
(Another) Update:
The main take-away: A correctly titled vehicle with current plates is a big plus when buying or selling.
After two trips to the Culver City DMV office - I have FINALLY received the registration to my M925A2 that I picked up in March of this year!
The biggest problem...
I have been an avid lurker of this thread as my air dryer acted up on me last week.
I was driving the 925A2 to the shipper I contracted to bring the truck from Ohio to CA - when all of a sudden my low air warning went off and my primary gauge had deflated to 59 psi. Since I was only a couple...
You're right... Just saw the typo.. My fat fingers make up stuff when typing.
Thanks for the info on the air dryer. I have read the other threads. Just never saw it on my truck. Now I now. I'll try tapping it free first. Then cleaning It. Hope that'll take care of it.
Just driving the truck (M935A2) to meet a shipper - when the Low Air light/horn activate. I see the primary tank reading is down to below 59psi and not building.
I only had a mile to go so I nursed it to my destination. With the braking action the pressure decreased more and I could feel the...
A "How-To' / Tips Thread - with video links - is a great way to learn how to do a lot of different maintenance and/or mods that just reading TMs don't convey all the time or are not easily searchable.
Thank God!
... but with that said, there was some concern as I (the one that knows the facts) - still have to deal with a bureaucracy that has a bad reputation of going sideways - or at the very least, making it very difficult by literally making you jump through many hoops. I have seen the...
UPDATE!
I received good news from two sources today... :D
1) The CA DMV office this morning told me that - even though the PA title list the Model Year as a 2012 - :recovry4x4: I can amend the CA title/registration - to the correct year (1991) with a VERIFICATION of VEHICLE Form - which has to...
Well...you and I know it's a 1991... Convincing CA of that is/may be my problem.
The problem was born when:
1) after the rebuild - the data plate was changed (I see this all the time) and where the "delivery date" field is on the plate - is now blank. The GP auctions don't even list a year on...
Thank you all for the advice. It's very good information.
I will go to my first appointment (this coming week) at the CA DMV office with "hypothetical question(s)" and see if there is a solution here (in CA) before presenting them with the actual paperwork.
I'm sure I can locate the number on the frame and compare it with the data plate - which will verify my VIN... (And even the date range produced; i.e. 1991).
What I'm not too sure about is the willingness of the DMV in CA to modify the existing title. I'm just hoping logic prevails... But...
So... I have a registration situation that I'm wondering how difficult it will be to rectify.
Seems that I received my title (from PA) and it lists my BMY M925A2 as a "2012" model year.
This is what was on the government paperwork after the Army 're-build'- and apparently they would not amend...
