I never could find the clear lenses. I ended up putting those on back and removing the lenses for the backup lights. Not ideal but it works. I bought two more for the front for the driving lights. Those lights as reverse lights are NICE. I can see where the **** I'm going especially with the...
Put 395s on the 109 so the Firestone T831 duallys that were on it could go on the M35A2C. These are on the aluminum MRAP wheels and I used Peashooter's adapter plates. Opted not to flip the rear hubs. I think it looks better that way :D
I originally had a shop do some of mine. Then I started working at a shop and I've since done quite a few of these style wheels. Wildchild nailed it on how to do it. Once I understood how these work they aren't so scary anymore. Once the ring is locked in it isn't going anywhere and it's plainly...
Those situations can be scary. Had it happen on my 109 and it's something that has well maintained brakes. Luckily it was parked when the peddle went to the floor and it didn't move again until i fixed it.
A friend and I just muscled 7 of these new ones with run flats around on a trailer on a recovery from Herlong and unloaded them the next day. I could tell I'd moved something heavy. These have the aluminum wheels too. I found on a search that the run flats are over 100lbs each!
I have the long air pack. Just one since it's still single circuit. I'm looking into alternatives to get modern dual circuit brakes and do away with the air pack all together. Having to deal with malfunctioning single circuit brakes in the mountains really turned me off to the whole idea.
Yup. Turns out it was like the problem peashooter had. The stock wheel cylinder pins were too long with the new larger wheel cylinders. I was able to get the drums on and the pads adjusted when I initially installed them. In service it appears they would drag slightly and then over time would...
That might have something to do with it. I was able to get all mine on and adjusted properly, or so I thought. Everything is fine until I get on the road for a while and they get hot and the brakes start sticking. When I stopped the front right was smoking like crazy and the paint on the drum...
I got the really hard pedal and the brakes were dragging. I cracked the glad hand and air was rushing out. Now that it's cooled down it seems to be fine. Could the pads be adjusted too close and they get too hot and cause it to do this? Acts like air pack though.
I'm travelling up to Fordyce lake for camping. The air pack on the 109 is locking up and now I'm stuck at a freeway offramp. I'm at the offramp for secret town road off I80 just past colfax. Is there any ss members in this area that can help? Gotta get a new air pack to get mobile.
