The plan is to power the dolly at some point, but its a pretty low priority. In the meantime the axles just got chopped.
Agree the inversion valve needs to go, this looks like the third port on the spring brake chambers will be left unused. I'll just leave it open to vent?
Thanks for all the input.
What I'm wondering with the inversion valve is this: It uses the secondary air system to back up the primary in the event of a primary system failure to maintain modulated brake control. However, there is no secondary air system on a converter dolly, since there is no...
Spent the last few days making a converter dolly out of a 5ton bogey and a MK back half towbar. Have most of it finished up now except for hooking up the brakes, and thats where I'm needing some help.
The bogey had no relay valves, or plumbing besides the lines that ran from the top of...
Video as promised. I installed it with the parts, and as outlined in post #12 . Only thing I did differently than in the drawing was reversing the A and EA ports. I drew them backwards. Can make another napkin sketch if anyone is unclear on that, but the video is correct. Decided to not use the...
Looks interesting, but in your drawing the shutterstat cannot vent pressure to turn the fan off when it returns to the normally closed position as coolant temp drops. It would be stuck on. Same problem with the manual switch in the cab.
I will be mounting the switch in the cab.
OTR truck shop...
OK, think I've got this figured out. Its called a "spool valve". It looks like the 6wd engagement lever would also work if it has a controlled vent line, and does not just vent out of the body. Will find out tomorrow. From what I can tell, there would be no issue with air moving both directions...
Sent 74m32a2 a pm for some clarification on what he was describing. The front axle switch as I understand it it a 3 way valve with two positions. On and off / vent, as previously mentioned.
I know I need a 3 way "diverting" valve, but this looks interesting also:
Think it might work?

Also worth mentioning: this is for an a2 truck, but I would image a1 variants and earlier use a shutterstat that is also normally closed (not supplying air to the fan until heated.)
Here's what I'm thinking based on Swamp Donkey / Porky's input.
Position 1: truck functions as normal
Position 2: manual fan override
Position 3: truck overheat
Here's the valve I'm considering
I'm unclear if these valves can also allow for position 3. If so, I need to come up with...
I'd like to add a manual fan override switch to my 5ton for various reasons. Prefer to not add any electrical systems for simplicity's sake, so I've been thinking about mechanical options. Take a look at my napkin sketch:
What I'd like to know, is if there is a valve made that would...
Swamp Donkey set me up with a new filter screen. Very generous of him. Thanks again!
After blowing some air through the new one he sent over, its looks like the old screen is trying to starve the motor of fuel, I definitely didn't / cannot clean it enough to be like the new one. Think I should...
