Is it possible to swap the controller from a wrecker into a cargo truck for the higher on road inflation? Is the software the only difference? Nothing mechanical? Would like my tractor to have higher pressure when loaded.
If you carry a tow bar with the truck (you should if you don't) here is a clever place to put it. Does not collect water, easy on, easy off, and is well secured using two ratcheting tie-downs. All our trucks have them there. Easy to lock if you want, and just keep the feet with pins in a...
1 Patriot-of-many Thanks for posting. Read through the trouble shooting pdf awhile back. Wish I had the diagnostic tool! Is the PCU sensor what the TM calls the "pressure transducer"? If so, I already replaced that when swapping out the pneumatic controller.
Its my understanding that when...
Yes, but the air is coming out so slowly. On my other trucks, there is a much larger burst of air. You can also hear the difference between this truck and others. The one I'm having issues with does not "click" as loudly when the CTIS engages.
Verified there are no leaks after the pneumatic controller. aztec, the easy way to do that is by unthreading the output line from the controller and pressurizing with a remote air source. Have a helper spray soapy water.
If that checks out, unscrew the output line on the pneumatic controller...
I've hit a bit of a wall. Got 5 flashing lights on my CTIS, and after tracking down all the leaks (there were a few) the system still defaults once the system runs its first pressure check, and tries to inflate. What I'm experiencing is the following:
When the system cycles on, the pneumatic...
The 1.5" aluminum wheel spacers we used were custom made in the USA by Motorsports Tech for this application, hubcentric and all that. No higher quality aluminum wheels spacers available as far as I know. Failed as shown, where they deformed after mounting and dismounting the wheels a few times...
Glad you got your tow bar in! Thanks again.
I've been keeping mine leaned up against the vertical mount for the muffler. One leg on each side. Two tiedown straps, one top and one bottom. Won't budge, keeps the water out.
Swamp Donkey Called it. Faulty primary air pressure gauge. Replace the leaky petcocks with shutoff valves, screwed on a gauge and all of the tanks read 120PSI. The up side, is that my air system should be good to go for a long time now! Not much I didn't fiddle with. Glad I got that other...
Thought that looks more like 10 lbs? Again, not sure if its a big enough difference to matter.
Will check the tanks individually tomorrow. Swapping the gauges is also a good idea. Thanks.
Assuming I find that the gauges are reading correctly, any ideas on what else to look at?
Swapped out the PPV with another truck, checked all the one-way valves for the secondary air tanks, and this is still what I have. Is this an acceptable difference in pressure? I'm running out of ideas...
Here's what I've been working on over the last few days:
Added shutoff valves for the coolant running to the air compressor head, so it can be serviced without pissing all over. Also, used 5/8'' hose instead of 1/2'' so things might stay a bit cooler.
Put in a fan actuator out of another...
Been using cummins part #4920062 which is a fiber gasket. The other pic is a side of the road fix. That one actually lasted the longest!
Troubleshooting today, I did notice a VERY slight leak near the fan clutch hub while the motor was not up to temperature. Stole a fan actuator valve off...
