Good advice, the rated weights are the issue. (But then people doing this are what keeps me employed . . . . .)
Regarding the chain, 3/8" Gr 70 will be required if you use screw binders, most of the are 6600# rated and that needs 3/8", the 5/16" is enough chain, just does not match most binders...
Guys,
Does anyone have a spare one available, or the part number or NSN for the "Starter Relay" that is unique to the M39 series with LDS-465-1A engine?
This is NOT like the control box on the 800 series, this is just a relay box.
I fine the instruction for removal and replacement in the TM...
The M39 series and the M809 series use the same case and yes it goes to neutral when the air is removed. There is NO position of the shifter that gives neutral, that is what the MWO was for. to relieve wear on the sprag.
Yes a properly operating sprag is to be cherished, they are far better...
The back brake will sometimes chatter when spooling out under tension. If it stopped moving it had to kill the engine or slip the main clutch. (ouch)
Something is broken.
The band break is specifically for holding the load when the drive is disengaged. It is a directional self energizing band brake. (Little load in the pull direction and a lot of load in the unwind.) Yes the winch will spool off under load if the brake is out of adjustment. Self locking worm...
Yes, the band on the front side of the worm drive. It is a self energizing band brake, and will destroy itself if regularly operated backward. Not to mention that if adjusted tight will take a lot of power to overcome.
If you operate the winch backwards, (line on the bottom of the drum) you will destroy the back brake. A winch without a functional back brake is even more dangerous and even more so on a hydraulically driven unit.
Guys, be real careful here. The spelter and plug ends give 100% rope strength, the wedge and socket does not, (75 to 80% strength)and the winch rope is operated with a much lower design factor, so giving up 25% is not a good idea. Yes they are easier, but. If the rope end has come off, I...
