Beaming, not unusual, but can be hard to fix. Has to do with the harmonics and natural frequency of the frame rails. To determine if this is the issue, have a rider watch the bed in relation to the cab while the bounce is going on. Bet you see an excessive movement difference. Then we have...
Welcome from Marietta, and we do NOT care what they look like for the rally. It is the desire to come, visit, enjoy and relax that matters. (Refer to wrecker kit from 2012....)
Shoot, let us know and we will drag it to the rally....
We are in count down to SSGR14 already..
Advanced timing actually reduces the chamber pressure effect as long as you are before TDC. I run 5 degrees more than the LDS calls for and except for the smoke she runs and pulls great. Yes, I put Squirt under a load also, she will run right to the governor on good roads with a GVW of >50,000#...
Good Idea, see below. Search is a wonderful thing....... This has been available since 2011
Steel Soldiers Sticker Order Info
Folks, until I can work out a better place to do this, order directions for the membership stickers will be here. If you are ordering a...
Clint,
Confirm that the clearance shield is in place on the quill shaft gear.
That cover will prevent the removal and reinstall of the head EXCEPT at the designated timing location.
That location does not align with the balancer or governor timing marks. it is just past.
The scribe tooth will...
This is a great thread.
Did anyone ever try the idea to install an alternate main breaker that will still protect the generator and not be as sensitive as the OEM breaker?
This sure seems like a simple fix, if say an 002 is good for 30 amps and a standard 30 amp breaker will start the...
Simple, the accepted standard is 10% to a MAX of 15% for tag along trailers, 25% for 5th wheel and 50% for semi-trailers.
We do these kinds of investigations regularly, and the loading is a big deal.
Tail wag is a BIG problem but control stability with excess tounge weight is just about as bad...
I have a thermal clutch on a 5-ton and it is the way to go. The adapter is simple, but not sure of the fan to radiator clearance on a 2-1/2.
For what its worth, I did run one of the electric fan engineering units for several years. Did just fine except at high engine speed (2300 or up) and...
Check if the MWO for front axle disengagement has been done, PROPERLY. Sounds like you have a front axle lock issue. (Ask 73m819, he had the truck for years before that issue shows its ugly head.)
But that being said, alignment is major, but NDCC's should go 3000 to 4000 on the front.
To answer an earlier question, the truck pulls exactly the same with the winch as driving. Traction is the limiting factor, does not matter much if spinning or sliding. But sliding will at least bury in somewhat.
Never snatch something like a stump, and NEVER snatch with a chain or wire rope...
Small ATV's that are a part of the rally are welcome, Extreme caution around the trucks, no hot rods, the ATV's riders and drivers must have helmets, golf cars no helmets unless DT has a rule on them. (ask) Mules, just need to be safe in the particular ways they require. (This means SLOW.)...
