    Gasser Deuce Questions

I'm going to be driving my Gasser M35 in the parade on Saturday so I'll try to keep an eye on fuel consumption for you and report back with my results. Later, Joe

    ARRGGHH!!! Damn Relays!

It's inside a black box under the dash near the steering column. To make sure the relay is bad or not, take a jumper wire and ground the terminal with the blue wire to a good ground and the relay should clunk. If it does then the relay is not the problem. Second note, don't buy a cheap Ford...

Cleaning out a sludgy fuel tank?? How?

I have the same problem on my 53 gasser deuce. My only problem with Muratic Acid is finding an environmentally friendly way to dispose of it after it's been contaminated with fuel residue. Any suggestions? (BTW, the radiator shop near me wanted $175 to clean the tank) Later, Joe

    I found a 10 ton tractor

Yes, that would be a 10 Ton It always amazes me how big those things are... and you have no idea until you are in front of one in person no matter how many pics you see of them. Later, Joe

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

If it doesn't 'appear' to be hooked up, no... but if you get caught with it feeding the engine and it has red fuel in it, you're in deep caca... Later, Joe

    Front springs worn out?

To check the king pins, jack up the suspect wheel, place a 2x4 under it for leverage and lift up. If the tire/wheel assembly moves, either the wheel bearings are loose or the king pins are worn out. If there is movement, have a helper watch the steering knuckle while you lift the wheel again to...

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

I'll second that, you don't have to prove anything on the side of the road... the longer you argue, the longer it takes and they get paid the same either way. Press hard, 5 copies. Later, Joe

New guy and have a question

Download the military technical manuals for it on this site in the 'Resources' tab because they are MUCH more detailed than the shadetree manuals could EVER hope to be, and as an added bonus they're completely free. They are the 9-2320-289-## series of manuals. -10 is the operator's manual -20...

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

A man in Charlotte NC was fined $1000 by the state and $1000 by the feds for driving his 1981 Mercedes diesel on 100% vegetable oil. In Colorado, they don't do a lot of checks (About 21000 were done last year) and they only caught 23 trucks using dyed fuel but other states are different...

    M1008 Glow plug relay stuck.

What was the temperature difference between yesterday and today? The temp gauge tells the controller when to cycle the plugs and when not to. It doesn't happen every time you start it, but as long as they stop cycling after a few minutes at most, things are fine. Later, Joe

Have you ever had your tank dipped?

Red diesel can not be used in agriculture if the vehicle is operated on public roads. It can only be used in vehicles that do not leave private property. State tax officers set up random checkpoints in rural areas to stop all diesel powered vehicles and dip their tanks to determine if they are...

    M1008 Glow plug relay stuck.

It is normal for the GPR to continue to cycle the glow plugs for a few minutes after starting to prevent white smoke and smooth out the idle until the temp sensor detects some heat. If you mean the GPR was constantly on after startup, that is bad. It won't hurt the starter or alternator, but it...
