    Mep 802a

Do you have the dead crank switch in the normal position and the red E-Stop button pulled out? It sounds like you don't have power to the control panel. Do the fuel pumps run when S1 is put in the prime/run position?

    Mep-003a fuel injector gaskets

They are available direct from Cummins on line but $4 is probably pretty close to the going rate. Equipment parts sales gets $4 Cummins seems to be $5.50 GMG is $15.20 ( insert you own joke here )

    MEP003 NO FUEL

The injection pump may have a problem, but that would not prevent fuel from coming out of the return lines. Start by making sure you are getting fuel to the inlet of the injection pump. Being that the machine has been sitting with the fuel system open to the atmosphere you may also need to do...

Who has reused a MEP generator engine for other equipement?

I suppose I should add that this was done more as a teaching project with my son and is by no means "practical" it was more for the cool factor of a diesel running at 1000 RPM instead of my previous 3600 gas screamer. The generator is mounted on the front of a PU-978 power plant trailer with the...

Who has reused a MEP generator engine for other equipement?

I've thought of all sorts of possibilities from belts to gears to planetary type drives, almost did an outer "ring" gear with the teeth internal and a "pinion gear on the pump, then just offset the pump to the side to mesh the gears. These are straight helical gears, not like a automotive ring...

Who has reused a MEP generator engine for other equipement?

I built a trailer mounted log splitter from an 002. Pretty much removed the gen head and put the pump and tank in that space. I put a dual stage pump in the 21 GPM area if I recall and a 5" x 24" piston. It just idles and has plenty of power to split anything, only issue is the pump is rated at...

"Just rolled In" on you tube.....

    MEP803A - 0W40 Oil

1 is like none 2 is like 1 3 and 4 , ok, somewhat of a backup plan developing. 5.... well, same as 4 but with some spare parts.... 6 should be good.... for now.

Am I a victim of foul play or incompetence? LOL.

Looks like your filter was the same as every other 802/803 with the exception that you got yours off without crushing , mangling and shredding the shell! For some reason they didn't put any oil on them and many folks have found it nearly impossible to remove without using drastic measures, up to...

802a on trailer. How much does it walk?

The trailer itself and quite often the rectangular metal plate connecting the 2 rails ( on the HMMWV style trailers ) will vibrate quite a bit, but the tires act as the ultimate vibration dampener.... I've never see a trailer walk around at all...

    MEP803A - 0W40 Oil

You'll find that once you have a supply of generators on hand, the utility power will never go out again! I used to loose power 4 or 5 times a year. Started buying MEP's about 10 years ago and I don't think we've lost power for more than a couple hours since!

MEP-002A No Power To Control Panel

That sure is interesting! Definitely not an OEM part, although it's not a water separator either.... it looks like a filter element only. Would you be able to share which manual from GM generators you got that number from? Something isn't adding up quite right....

MEP-002A No Power To Control Panel

I'm also curious what you got as far as a fuel / water separator for $0.50? The original is just a reusable stack of aluminum discs. Normally you just wash off the discs and reuse. Any chance you have a link to what you purchased?

    First load test MEP-803

Sounds about right, a little smoke above 100% load is normal. Smoke will tend to increase slightly as you approach the engine's limit of power.

    MEP-802a Parts Question

The other pic is missing the single wire coolant temp. sensor for the gage. The 2 pin sender still installed controls the fault panel.

Mep-831 wont start the next day after finally sending power

The E-stop is simply a switch so all it can do is pass through whatever voltage is going into it, so I'd start by making sure the batteries are fully charged and in good condition. If the batteries are older, make sure they have good amperage and not just a surface charge, which will drop...

MEP-803 overheated first time under load

Jiggler! That's the term I was looking for. (y)

MEP-803 overheated first time under load

Assuming your thermostat was installed correctly ( spring towards the engine ) I'd say you may have had an air pocket under the thermostat, preventing it from opening correctly. Some thermostats have a small 1/8" hole drilled in the flat body with a little brass ball that acts like a check ball...

    ISO Front Fuel Tank Panel

See post #3 , it has the link to his Classified add for the rear covers.
