If the shifter is not placing the valve body control into the full detent position, this could cause anomalies. This “slipping” upon engagement could also be related to pistons in the valve body and servos being a bit stiff from lack of use. He should take it out and drive the crap out of it...
Most prototypes get cut up by the manufacturers. My prototype HMWWV escaped this fate as some South Bend scrap yard didn’t follow instructions…. It didn’t pass an airdrop test however.
