Got a bunch of computer stuff, not sure what it is

Computers have any nomenclature on them? Looks like something from the early 90's with a 286 inside.

    Help identifying axle

Oh that helps. Since GVM is still in business, send them the VIN and they should be able to help you with the original info on the axle. It’s not a military axle. You may need to find a junkyard that specializes in ag equipment. I used to maintain a Terragator fertilizer spreader with a...

    Help identifying axle

Well it's a Rockwell. What is a gvm. Does this have sand color paint on it meaning it was transplanted from a MRAP derivative?

My Hurricane Humvee is Back Alive!

Maybe, but don't forget USMC drives these in salt water every day in training and the trucks come back for more every time.

My Hurricane Humvee is Back Alive!

Suggest you get a fire hose and flush the two frame rails out. Right now there is still mud and salt inside the rails which will cause corrosion. USMC has issues with this when fording from landing craft.

How many M715 can I build?

NO PART OUTS!!!! Jack has exactly the right idea, build up as many complete non-running, non-restored survivors as he can and sell for a good price. These were parts trucks long ago but not anymore. Too desirable as complete trucks.

How many M715 can I build?

Wow. This has to be one of very few old school surplus yards left in the United States.

    M1009 Starter Sparks

Maybe the positive cable is loose. Starter is sealed up pretty good so I wouldn’t imagine sparks are coming from inside. It bolts up in the usual GM fashion. It’s heavy.

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

My thoughts on that are: diesel and water stay separate, so it doesn’t seem likely that the salt that is dissolved in the water will jump across liquids. However, whatever the water comes in contact with, say for instance the bottom of the fuel tank, will be subjected to brutal corrosion. All...

    Texas title question

You will have to bring it to your local auto crimes unit on a trailer or tow truck etc.

How many M715 can I build?

Are the cab floors and rockers rusted out? Doesn’t look like it. Took me years of searching to find a perfect cab for my 715.

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

Suggest you pressure wash this truck stem to stern twice. Then spray components like the engine computer and alternator with something like WD40, there are better sprays available for protection however.

    M1009 - 12 V Power Distribution Block - Battery Preference

Yup that makes sense. For light electrical loads you could use the existing 12 volt power stud near the glowplug solenoid.

    Installing dashboard clips

They call those “dzus”. I vaguely remember having to squeeze or pry them into the hole.

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

I would check out that 3 switch remote start panel in the engine compartment, maybe the switch is full of salt water allowing continuity all the time.

***URGENT*** MEP 803a set-up question ***SOLVED***

The scenario that everyone is worried about is that WHILE YOU ARE SOMEWHERE ELSE, a family member will try to solve an issue that may arise and FLIP THE MAIN ON. If a lineman sees your backfeed setup, he will become infuriated, pull your meter, report you to the local government permit office...

Lets Be Complete Doofuses is basically what S&S and Leece Neville were thinking when they put that system on FMTVs. Load Battery Control Device

M1083A1 Electrical Maladies Starting at the Disconnect Switches

My opinion is those solenoids are damaged by salt water. Bypass them for diagnostic purposes.
