Please describe "good charge" in more detail. What kind of batteries and how old? Presumably you wiggled the shifter.

Have you ever driven anything with that much overhang? I really don't think this is viable.

Welcome to the site. I've traveled a lot and had a lot of experiences with various DMVs. My experience has been that no advance information is necessarily accurate when you actually show up to register. In other words, the information you get today may or may not be what happens when it's time...

I think @fuzzytoaster has the right idea. And you lose so much bottom end with 16.00s, especially with the wrecker being as heavy as it is.

Anything that completely displaces the O2 should be 100% effective.

My experience has been that 802s tend to have positive crankcase pressure even without stuck rings.

Just a thought. Ditch the alternator entirely. Put a 24V battery charger on the batteries, plugged into the house when not in use and plugged into the genset when in use.

Guages, switches, starter, internal wiring is all set up for 24V. Why convert? 12V will use twice the amperage for the same energy...
