Ok, I found the switch and unhooked it from the linkage and it works fine. It holds the engine at 1K RPM when engaged. I thought the crane was supposed to run at 1250 +/- 50 though.
Next question... the large bellcrank that the linkages from the rear controls run to under the truck just behind...
I just noticed this thread... is the truck still in one piece or has it gone yet? I might be able to do something to save it if I can arrange a place for it to be stored until I can come get it or arrange for it to be shipped.

I'd like to start by saying that this came about from majortom's post in another thread about his modifications to his M543A2. I would like to hear some stories about the strengths and weaknesses of the military wreckers if anyone has them, and suggestions on how to overcome some of those...
I'd like to start a discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of the military wreckers in real world use because I think real world experience with them would be extremely useful. See my other post so we don't clutter up this one.

Just out of curiosity, did you pull the emergency stop in the center of the dash to shut it down? If you did, you have to get under the hood to reset it, pushing the lever in won't turn the fuel back on like a deuce. Something to check, if it won't shut down with the switch, there is a knob on...
When you turn the key to 'START' does the relay under the dash click? Put your finger on it and see if you can feel it click. That will isolate it between the 12V and 24V side pretty easily. You can also jump the relay with a piece of wire, that will eliminate the 12V side completely so if it...
The Contact Maintenance body has its own TM that is not authorized for public release.
What I can tell you is that most generators turn at 1800 RPM to make 60Hz

RE: What did I just screw up (electrical related - with pics
You created a dead short between the positive and negative battery terminals with no resistance. If you think of electricity as water, you just knocked a hole in the dam and all of the water rushed out at once. Since the connection...
RE: What did I just screw up (electrical related - with pics
Battery is toast for sure... luckily it didn't explode. The cable end might be able to be salvaged, but if you have the capability to get a new one, you'd probably be better off replacing it.
The ratchet is also toast... I'm sure the...
