Might as well post them in this thread for others who want to attempt the same swap in the future... I know I might be interested in doing the same swap later when I get a 1031.

RE: Re: RE: towing a M1009 with a 98 chevy c1500
If you unbolt the driveshafts, you are ok. If you don't the output of the transmission is turning but the oil pump (which is on the input shaft of 95% of automatic transmissions) isn't so the bearings get starved of oil and burn up.

I just called Saturn and they do not have the cable listed in the TM... do you have a different part number I could try with them or another source?
Thanks,
Joe
Out of the three 1009s that I bought, none of them have a good headlight harness in them. They have all been butchered for the sockets.
If anyone has a spare headlight harness for a CUCV, I'd appreciate it if you'd drop me a line. I could also use a second one since I've got to convert my...
RE: Unit level CUCV maintenance manual?
It's on page 8 in the tech manual section of resources...

My new gasser has 6 year old fuel/rust/dirt sludge in the bottom of the tank (about 1/4 in thick or thicker under the filler). Should I try to have it cleaned or just get another tank? Are the gasser and multi tanks even the same?
Thanks,
Joe
Yes it does... (at least mine does) the air cylinder is the small silver cylinder with red lettering that is in the upper right corner of the second picture. If you look at Jim's first post, that IP is the AFC pump and mine is the VS pump.

ALL diesels, regardless of age, have to be emissioned in Colorado. It's stupid, but they stick an opacity gauge on the stack and run it at different loads to see how much smoke is generated.

I would recommend pulling the entire bed to work on the fuel tank. I've always found that to be MUCH easier than trying to do it from under the truck.
I don't know where water could be getting in unless the military accidentally drilled a hole in the tank while installing gear in the bed...
Yea, I figured it was right.
On the mileage, I don't know. The speedo adapter broke just outside of Aurora so I don't have a mileage estimate.
I do know that I drove from Co Springs to Commerce City and back, and went from Co Springs to Elizabeth to pick up a deuce and back with it in tow and...
I've attached some pics of my 816's pump, I think it's the right one. My hand throttle is the same way, three clicks and it's against the governor.
Mine is stuck too, so if you figure out a good way to loosen it up, please pass it along.

I have an SF97 that has a mistake on the VIN... It is one digit off. Is there any easy way to get this fixed?
For some reason, they copied the VIN as the Reg #, year, and serial # in one long string. The VIN on the SF97 is:
N100ZE72C124#####
and it should be
NL00ZE72C124#####
In order to get...
I have to get my two 5-tons (816 and 818) emissions soon and to do that I need to disengage the front axle since they have to put it on the dyno. Is there any sure way to do that other than removing the front driveshaft?
Thanks,
Joe
Well, I got it home tonight... it was only 50 miles each way, but a few hills drug the 816 down to a crawl for miles on end. It took us 2 hours to clear the 50 coming home.
Anyway, only got two pics of the truck and wrecker... I'll get some more tomorrow.
Learned how to use the whiffle tree...
I don't know what the deal is with the picture, but the headlights are normal in person... LOL
It's a very nice '53 Reo gasser and we decided that it's coming home tomorrow. It fires right up and runs nice. It only has issues with the brakes and the couple of leaks. The winch is complete and...
