RE: Gasser value (Need quick opinion)
It is a 1953 according to the seller and I'm not looking to work it, but save it since it is a complete, early truck. It does run, he says that he'll have it running for me when I get there this afternoon.

RE: Gasser value (Need quick opinion)
It does run, not sure how well. He has the red boat tank on it because the main tank has dirt (his explanation) in it and clogs up the filters. Here is his message describing the truck to me.
I just got another e-mail from him and he said that he will...
I have posted on Kenny's thread about this truck, but I'd like a little more attention for a broader opinion of what I should do and time is running out for this truck....
I found a 1953 gasser M35 W/W on Craigslist that the owner is parting out (I guess due to no title). It is a complete...
It might be a little far away, but there's one here in CO that showed up on Craigslist... I've emailed him to see if I can buy it whole rather than letting him part it.

LOL... there are two on the alternator, two on the fan, two on the power steering and one for the water pump. Glad to hear that they fit around the fan because I wasn't looking forward to yanking the radiator.

My 816 tossed the generator belts yesterday on the way back from the parade in Denver. According to the TM, you have to remove the fan to change the belts, and to remove the fan you have to remove the radiator.
Has anyone removed just the fan or do you have to remove the radiator?

Just a side note.... a MEP-005A is 30KW, not 10... The 10K is a MEP-003.
You can wire it up to a house, but to meet code you will require either an automatic or manual transfer switch. The big issue with military generators for emergency standby use is most do not have electronic governors to...
RE: My Apologies
I just wanted to take a minute and thank everyone who participated in the parade... My family and I had a really good time and hope to get together with you guys again soon. The 816 made the 160 mile round trip with only a few minor issues... the speedometer adapter separated...
No, the extra heavy one is about twice what the standard one is and the extra extra heavy one...... well.... use the 816 to install it... LOL

RE: DT466
I'll have to jump on the mechanical bandwagon... put an older (non electronic) 466 or 6CT8.3 Cummins in it. While a newer V10 or injected 502 would be nice, you'd be adding massive amounts of electricals to the truck.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Really Weird Wireing Problem
The simple solution would be to put a diode in the circuit to prevent a backfeed to the vehicle electrical system when the fan is freewheeling if you can get one rated for the current you are providing the fan. Otherwise, put the fan on a...
Several things could cause it, but the first thing you need to do is check the fusible links. It sounds like you blew the one between the battery and the distribution block on the firewall.
First, make sure the front battery has 12V
Then, check the small wire coming off of the dogbone (battery...
Sometime in its life before I got it, my 816's front winch got damaged. Probably by getting moved around the GL yard prior to sale by a forklift. Does anyone know where I can get these parts? I'm going to be in Barstow this weekend so I'm going to check around there (and if someone wants to go...
Best way to learn is to download the Operator's Manual TM from the Resources Tab on this site... the TM number is 9-2320-272-10
That manual will tell you what each truck is, its model number and how to use it.
