Nice to have spare parts like that! I didn't mean to sound like I was degrading your truck and apologize for coming off that way. Glad to hear about just the cab, hopefully the PO didn't sand the paint very well before bed lining it.
I could live with the bumpers and the roll bar, those stacks would go, but why the heck would did the dumb PO spray it with bed liner? With me that would have to go or maybe a deal killer.
I remember using wire ties that come on loaves of bread, not sure if it was on a CUCV or not but what works on works on others, I do know I just tightened up the bolts with that thin wire in there.
I used a new set of mounts AND the steel spacer plates that have a removeable bar that goes down to the bellhousing, the plates and mounts give lots of room but I couldn't get the bars to fit. Maybe someday I'll try again.
Easy way to see if that core is leaking, place it on a flat level surface and carefully look for any wet spots. If that place on the bottom is a leak then it will show up. Have you tried changing the rad-cap?
Harbor Freight may be your best friend! They have a folding aluminum step stool that has locking legs, I keep one in the back of my Silverado so I can climb in the bed. I've looked for steps for square body trucks and never came up with any decent ones other than running boards.
I have had good...
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I envision some bent rods and maybe a bent/twisted or broken crank. On the good side no valves should be damaged unless they ate some debris. I know, I'm not helping. Truely are sorry this happened.
Could be a lock up torque converter, if so NEVER have it locked and come to a stop! 6.2 has enough torque to overcome the lockup clutch and will burn it up in seconds. I think I still have the Tee shirt somewhere.
BTW it's not stock if it has twin sticks for the transfer case.
Paint doesn't peel because it's old, that was another issue.
I don't know just how old that paint but it may be some old lead based, don't let that bother you! Lead paint covers and lasts great! Just make sure you use a good respirator and have good airflow. Are you using any activator with it...
" New rear springs were sitting on my porch when I got home. Husky 22-403, 2350LBS rated, six leaf, made in Colombia " WOW, here I thought coffee and cocaine was about all that came from Colombia!
I was under my long LONG term project and noticed the tranny mounts also oil soaked and dry...
I just want to make sure you know!
Two things I see and hope neither give you a problem. #1 the OEM connection to the gear box is splined and that Jeep one is not. does the pinch bolt ride on a 'flat' of the shaft? If not I would refrain from turning the wheel without power steering and try to...
To center the steering wheel, loosen the lock clamp on the drag link, then with the front wheels straight and the truck running (set parking brake) turn the adjusting sleeve and the steering wheel will turn. Easy to do and no toe adjustment necessary because you never messed with it! Save the...
I assume you want to turn the engine over by hand to keep it from seizing up? A couple ways to do this, one I talked about above, using a socket wrench on the harmonic balancer pully bolt. I'm not a fan of doing that as I've always been afraid of breaking or stripping the bolt if the engine is...
Turning the fan will do nothing as it is mounted on a clutch, you could turn the engine over with a socket wrench and a bar from underneath. I don't remember the size of the large bolt on the front of the crankshaft.
