...good perspective...LOL....
Of course, hauling around a tracked piece of armor has it's own rewards. Just like a gun show....set-up and take-down are the worst parts. Sweating, cussing and having to get your body in difficult positions (...over 60,guys...) makes it difficult. But the wide-eyed...
...tank like...?
Only things I can equate like that is an M113-114 or the Brit Fv432 series of vehicles....or maybe a Russian BMP...? Get the pic's posted....LOL
...thought about it...
Getting old and was having the same thoughts...LOL. Ramps are too heavy for any type of hinge arrangement I can think of. If someone does have a fix...I'd sure like to see it...!!
...practicality rules..
As with every piece of military equipment...whether US or foreign...the troops that used it made modifications of their own in the field. Best known is the addition of 'hedgerow-busters' on the M4 Sherman tanks following the D-day European invasion and the bust out of...
..decent rate..
Just spoke w/Lynnette at Quality Inn and she approved a rate of $60 @ night for any MV people attending the Ropkey MV meet. Just mention 'Ropkey MV' event. Contact #(765) 362-8700....very nice lady and very helpful.
...anybody...?
Since I'm on one of the main north/south roads in South Bend,IN (#31),anyone like to convoy down to Crawfordsville...? Plan on leaving Thur afternoon 16 Sep...arrive early evening in time to do preliminary set-up and get motel room/eat. Let me know....(800) 380-4867....as I...
...better...
That's better...thank you. Thought I was going blind. Called...left message. If there are free spaces for display, might bring my APC down for a showing. It will be her first MV show....LOL....
...all well and good...
After your first 'sticker-shock' while looking at the classified ads here, take a stroll thru the GL sales....always a good lesson,as proposed. Most duces have gone up a bit lately...but guys are selling some because of the economy also. Being at the right place and right...
...always worth the effort...
Nice to have fellow MV members for back-up. It's always best to contact the DRMO people and see if they can work with you...most will, some can't and few are just not willing to help. Can always call a local tow/wrecker service to haul and store rolling stock...
,,,best way to learn...
If you have served in the military...then you should have no problem reading a tech manual. Get a few...operator,PM,direct service and depot service. Don't have the #'s...manuals are at my shop....but get on ebay or search the 'classified's' here for some. Once you read...
...my eyes...?
Maybe it's my eyes....but I can hardly read the text. Got to the web site OK though. Have never been there, but have heard about it thru other collectors. Thank you for the info...could you change the color of the text...?
...looks like...
That looks like one of the newer type Marine's 155MM cannon. Saw this type on Gunny's " Lock & Load ". Got some dummy's for it and would look good in front of my shop....LOL. Matter of fact...should have declared it 'salvage',backed up the 'duce and off-loaded and hauled it...
...wtg,....!!!
Congrats on getting an M172A1 trailer...!!! Previous post was correct. Guy on ebay has 'em listed for $15...got mine in less than a week...good guy to work with. When these disappear....I'll make 'em. Can't beat the price....
....welcome to SS....
Be very happy you have a hard-top....many others would like to be so lucky....! WELCOME...Have a good time on Steel Soldiers....best MV site there is....IMO
...whew...
OK.....I digested all that in one reading....LOL. Yep...chocks,additional chain at tie-down points on each side and re-positioning of the rear chain/s to utilize the rear shackle tie-downs. Lot more info than when I started the post. Again, many thanks to all for the professional...
