    Air Compressor/Opinions Please

The 90 amp rating is likely just the startup surge; actual running amps would likely be a lot less than that. It would have to have something like 6 gauge cable in order to have a continuous 90 amp draw. I don't suppose anyone posted what the duty cycle is on it? The days of finding those...

    PNW Info Thread!

I posted this on our FB group, so will put it here also If everyone doesn't mind moving it forward by one week, I have the space to do it the weekend of the 13/14th here in McCleary. We would also be in the McCleary Bear Festival parade, which is a little smaller than the Napavine one, but not...

    Sheared generator bracket bolts.

Just for an update, I've now talked to several other people with sheared off exhaust stud and sheared off bolts in the front, the same thing as mine did. They have gone to the newer style bracket with no difficulty and are very happy with the upgrade.

    Glow Plug Replacement

my truck has started in frozen weather with at least 4 bad glow plugs, maybe more. I've replaced 3 of them so far. It does put out quite a bit of smoke for the first 10-20 seconds or so, but runs perfectly after that. I'd say for only 2 stck glow plugs it isn't worth the time/money to tear it...

    Squeaky belt

The idler pulleys use a replaceable bearing in them that isn't that hard to change out. If nothing else keep a few of them on hand. 6203 bearings, 2 per idler.

    CRANK NO START

Next step is see what voltage you have at the glow plugs.

    Squeaky belt

Mine squeaked when my belt was out of alignment. Alternator bracket had the rear brace stud on the exhaust sheared off, and that put extra stress on the front bolts, two of which sheared off and the third loosened. Ended up replacing the rear bracket with the newer one. If your serial number...

Humvee shock absorber and spring options?

You could probably make them fit, but they are too soft for the added weight of the M1165 over the basic M998, and would be more compressed, losing some height. Those springs are designed for a truck weighing no more than 7700 lbs fully loaded, and empty your M1165 is edging up on that. I've...

    CRANK NO START

A couple things to start off with: 1) has this vehicle ever started for you, or did you receive it in this condition? 2) Using a multimeter, do you show voltage at the glow plugs when they are cycling? 3) Do you have any smoke out the exhaust while cranking the engine? 4) Caps lock is...

    Power steering fluid

DEX III is recommended. The military did switch to DEX VI (DEX 6, there is no 4 or 5) for their fleets, but in the civilian world the DEX VI is only approved for automatic transmissions, and all other applications still use DEX III that's been repackaged and a different part number on it. Even...

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

as far as I know there is 1 fuel line to engine 1 return line from engine 1 vent line up to near air filter canister 1 auxiliary feed line 1 auxiliary return line the auxiliary lines can be either ambulance heater, or now that I think about it there were some comms type boxes that had a...

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

You sure they are vent lines? Most trucks will have a second set of lines installed that don't go anywhere; they are intended to go to the heater in the ambulance body as far as I know.

    Glow Plug Replacement

1.5 ohms. As long as it's around 1 or 2 ohms you should be okay. They usually either work, or don't, and the don't side can be open or shorted.

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

Is it just the truck shuddering, or does the engine also sound rough as well? There could be something else in the drivetrain rather than the engine being the culprit.

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

There should be a little smoke under heavy acceleration, so to me this does sound like a fuel starvation issue. It only does it after the engine warms up a bit, or all of the time once you start loading it up?

To get my HMMWV (M1097A2) in good running order... need help.

In other words, runs rough under load. Time to start checking out the fuel system. Should have a steady stream of fuel out the filter drain in the front wheel well when running. If slow trickle then might be a blockage in the system like your check valves or fuel pickup in the tank. If no...

What is the max amperage consumption on ECV with lights and A/C on?

I see no reason why not. Some really rough numbers: lights aren't a big draw at 24v, maybe 5 or 6 amps for the headlights if incandescent, and less if LED. Marker lights maybe a couple amps all together. AC is mostly the clutch and blower motors. I think my Red Dot has a 20 amp breaker in...

    New HMMWV owner with questions.

typically the surplus MTR are recommended against due to their high failure rate. I bought a set that was less than 10 years old and 90%+ tread. Within 6 months the sidewalls were failing. Military put out a bulletin that all MTR tires over 5 years old were to be removed and disposed of for...

    New HMMWV owner with questions.

The maintenance free or the batteries with the inset vent caps, so they have a completely flat top, will work with the original hold down brackets. If it has the raised vent caps then it won't. The picture at the bottom is a set of group 24 AGM batteries, so the same size and flat top. I'm...

    M1123 rear cargo cover

This pipe is MUCH heavier than conduit, so I don't recommend using it while driving. If you do, then put something inside of it like 1/2" black iron pipe or other heavy metal tubing, otherwise you'll end up with everything bending backwards
