Welcome yeah looks like the previous owner got carried away with the train horns and flood lights. And questionable demands stenciled on the bumper given the 55 mph top speed. Army trucks are supposed to be inconspicuous at least in their natural habitat in the field.
Yea kinda a dead item. Back in the 90’s when the Army was dumping the M151s, they would let the scrappers pull the engine before squashing the body flat as a flitter. So there is an abundance of engines here and there in warehouses for the demand that never came. Now 30 years has past and who...
EXCELLENT observation on the rear USMC crossmember! That explains everything. The main data plate shows procurement "US NAVY" because that is who buys stuff for the Marines! The main data plate is indeed correct. You have a USMC Jeep.
The registration number from the data sticker is 88B4273, the 88 is code for 1988, and that format registration number is USAF. The truck entered service in 1988, it’s a type B vehicle, and it’s the 4273th vehicle purchased by the USAF in 1988 more or less.
A flaw on the HMMWV vent system is that all the gear cases tie together, this has caused plenty of problems when something goes wrong in one place and sends fluid to all the others. As cheap as that poly tube is, I would run separate lines for each gear case to a central point, maybe behind the...
The block is different from the civilian 230 and the military, so the “warehouse “ story doesn’t sound plausible. The 230 was introduced in the early 1960s in various full size Jeep vehicles. I believe the engine was discontinued in 1966 but brought back for the M715 series. Probably to let...
Hey the Tornado is actually not too bad in the power dept. And it's a hemi! Problem with it is the same as the Ford Triton engines, crappy timing chain design.
Isn't that a turn signal conversion harness? See if the cannon plug fits into the turn signal control. If the cannon plug fits into the three lever light switch, it is a lighting harness. The two prong connector goes into the brake light switch on the master cylinder.
Like a lot of us, my M915 class 8 truck has been parked during the 2 year pandemic. Looks like uncle dropped some new requirements on CDL holders in the mean time. Now we have to establish an account in the FMCSA "clearinghouse". Apparently this also applies to "owner/operators" which I am...
