Found $7.00 MEP 701/016 Fuel Filter

The CarQuest part price may have increased since the original post... I am showing it on my CarQuest terminal as about $9 now.

Can anyone identify this gen panel?

Not anything I've seen, and not for the predecessor to the MEP-004 (I've a panel off it). Looks like an odd-ball one to me, the analog frequency meter says "later than the '60s" but that's a very rough estimation, I've seen analog meters on much older stuff, and non-analog on later ones. Were...

    Frequency Transducer compatibility

There are at least two versions, not compatible between them. The meter movement is different (different full scale current), so you should ask the seller to confirm what the meter movement full scale current is, and if that matches then it should work OK. Keep in mind that it is likely the...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

Make sure the parallel switch is in the correct position. Reverse power is when a generator is paralleled but not supplying the correct power. Running without a load won't cause it to light on a MEP-004, I do this for my occasional test runs sometimes when I'm too lazy to connect a load bank (my...

    Load Bank?

BTW, for an alternative load bank, places that surplus (industrial not military, but military places may also have some) electrical/electronic/industrial often have larger electric heaters. Recently I noticed a 15 KW, three phase (208 volt!) heater, with a built in blower. IIRC, they wanted...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

In my case, cleaning out the kitty litter (oil-absorb) was a PITA too. I used the shop vac to get as much as possible, then took it outdoors (was working on it in the shop) and washed it well. There are drain holes, and Dawn dish washing soap does cut oil nicely. My ASK is also got some rust...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

Those oil filter gaskets are a royal PITA, and I've had similar things happen to me (not that much, but I have blown almost a quart out before I noticed the leaking.) My eventual fix was another cover I had sitting around, which had a gasket already installed. I used it (and that old gasket!)...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

This sounds quite normal. The slowing is when the day tank is full, and no fuel is needed. If you get fuel to the IP, then the day tank has fuel, and the filters are getting fuel from the pumps. Personally I'd guess the pumps are functioning correctly. No, they will start, and run without...

How to check the frequency meter

Keith, I've seen two different movements in these generators, so there is no 'standard' as such. Were this mine, I'd connect to a knows 60 Hz source (house current is what I use, with a suicide cord) and measure the output voltage. A bit of Ohm's law and that will give current (since you know...

How to check the frequency meter

The transducer module is typically 120 volts in. Removing the wires from the module, and connecting to standard 120 house AC power will indicate 60 Hz if the frequency meter is working OK. Doesn't even require starting the generator set!

Are MEP 002A AND 003A injectors interchangeable?

Two thoughts... 1. Head-gaskets are not reusable even if they look new. You need to use a new one to get it to seal correctly. 2. You need all the bolts (studs) on the head, if one is broken remove and replace it. Diesel engines are really hard on head gaskets, they build much higher...

    Mep002a

22NF is a relatively common size, I suspect Interstate does make them. Only problem for me is the lack of an Interstate dealer, I like their batteries! Personally if the batteries are primarily starting batteries, that is what you should get. Deep cycle batteries don't deliver starting currents...

    Newbie Here With MEP-016Bs

Derf, great comments... I've got a good sound meter as well, and perhaps next time I start my MEP-004 with ASK I'll measure it. The procedure for measuring sound level for my set is in the manual, so I'll do it that way. My biggest problem will be hoping that my meter's battery is not dead!

Couple of Questions Mep-016B or others

I'm not sure about the specific relays in question, but often if there is no key (special pin, or something to prevent incorrect insertion) they will work both ways. An example, on my Hummer H1 there are some relays that are just as you describe, multi-pin, and can be turned around 180...

    Mep-002a Ammeter-Voltmeter transfer Switch

I love power factor, it confuses the heck out of almost everyone (the only more confusing thing is the 120/208 volts from three phase.) Watts are (roughly) volts times amps with a 1.0 power factor. VA are volts and amps, and take power factor into consideration. In a perfectly resistive load...

    S280 shelter electrical system

Neutral is the same on three phase as it is on single phase, it lets you get two voltages, either going from leg to leg (higher voltage) or leg to neutral (lower voltage). For a WYE setup, you typically get 208 volts from phase to phase, and 120 volts from phase to neutral. For a high side...

    S280 shelter electrical system

A WAG but a four pin connector implies single phase (two hots, neutral and ground). You need five pins (three hots or phases, neutral and ground) for three phase. but an easy answer is to check the box inside, I'm sure the cover comes off easily.

    Seller Responsibilities

I would recommend adding: "Buyer agrees to indemnify and hold seller harmless from all claims, causes of action, damaged and judgements arising out of the use, sale, or ownership of [item sold]." The reason is that the "as-is, no warrantee" clause protects you (the seller) from claims from...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

I might have one lying around. I do have some sensors, not sure which ones however. On the fuel level sender, it is more complicate. Not only does it detect low fuel, it also detects a full condition and controls the shutoff valve so the tank doesn't over fill... At least that is my...

One more 4A032 carb float question

AFAIK, a stuck float can result in either condition, but usually it causes flooding. ;-) The problem may arise that should that be the problem, it is also possible that the various passages in the carburetor may also be clogged up, so even if you unstick the float, it may not run. (Only an...
