Can anyone tell me which wrecker this is and what it might be worth? It's for sale and the seller says that it's a gasser that runs and operates but needs a tune up.
Is an early wrecker any more or less desirable than a later one?
Thanks
I'm thinking of bidding on an 818 in the Johnston Auction, but would like someone to check it out for me first. (it ends on Wed though)
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Joe
No, a CDL isn't out of the question, but you have to carry a medical certificate to have one and it takes time, which is one thing I'm short on right now.
I'm looking at an 818 in the IA sale right now, but it's a 10 hour drive to bring it home if I were to win it. I also have my eye on an...
UHauls are under CDL requirements for weight and simply by their distinctive markings would be ignored by DOT cops so I'm not sure if that's really a fair comparison.
Here's a hypothetical... you have two 26' straight trucks driving down the same highway with the same load, one is in UHaul...
Well, that's all fine and good for a MV tractor, but let's say I bought a small commercial tractor for those longer trips to pick up GL wins (because 10 hours in an 818 isn't the most comfortable ride... LOL) Now I'm not 'stealth' and look like any other commercial truck on the road.
Would 'Not...
The Colorado Statute you are looking for is 42-2-402 Commercial Driver's Licenses - Definitions
(1) "Commercial driver's license" means a license issued to an individual in accordance with the requirements of the federal "Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986", 49 App. U.S.C. sec. 2701 et...
Well, the reason I want a deuce tractor is because it's smaller than a 5T and is well under CDL range. I've heard both sides of the argument from officers, and the general consensus I get is that if it's 26K or more you need a CDL, even if it's not commercial because they don't want some...
I'm on the hunt for a deuce tractor somewhere on the west side of the country, anyone know where one is?
Next question is, once I find one, what should I look for outside of the normal deuce stuff?
Since it's a tractor, do you need a CDL to move it around (without a trailer) or would I be ok...
I'm assuming you're looking to drive the forklift into the back of the deuce to transport it back to your place... just a question, but how do you plan to get the forklift out of the back of the deuce at your destination?
I hated those things when I was a Power Pro tech in the Air Force... we had the 28VDC version in Germany for running radio pallets in HMMWVs. The carbs are tempermental and if it's been sitting forever, either take it apart and clean the varnish out of it or replace it with a new one (we always...
I'll bet that first truck went from Ft Carson to Saudi for Desert Storm and got surplussed out on the way back. Guessing from the description of the current state of the truck, it was beat to heck in Saudi for that express purpose.
The NHC 250 is the 'Small Cam' engine that Cummins put out. They are 855 cid and the 250 refers to the horsepower rating of the engine. Since it's an early NA application, it is not built to the specifications that a later turbo motor is. Here is a good article on the Cummins N series 855...
RE: Re: m882 dataplate
There's an 882 in a yard here in Colorado that still has it's dataplate.
Dunno if you're still looking, but it's in good shape.
Later,
Joe
If anyone's interested, one of the older yards that I deal with has a M882 with the rear bumper and pintle still on it. It is missing the upper jaw, but all of the brackets are there still along with the trailer plug.
The truck is complete but all of the BO lights are busted except for the left...
