    Ebay Mep Warning

Agreed, I think it is 400 Hz too, based on his lack of photos of the ID plates, lack of quoting specifications, etc.

To cover or not to cover that is the question....

I cover the top of generators but make sure there is space for plenty of ventilation at the bottom, and also since I'm in the crappy weather region, I need to make sure the cover doesn't freeze to the trailer! Having the cover makes it nice to clean off when needed (ASK, requires opening the top...

    MO to New England

I've about ten boxes in MO total weight of 400+ lb (can be put on a pallet) that I need moved to New England (NH, but anywhere within a drive is OK) so anyone have suggestions before a cut a FedEx Freight shipment?

    MEP002a IP plunger broken

My experience with injection pumps is that when something freezes up, that's the end. Tolerances are very close, and you will not get the proper fit even if you got it apart. (then again, anything is possible.) Were this my rig, I'd start looking for an entire IP.

    Genset

Can you provide some more information and photos of this? I wonder if non-single phase MEP-004As could be converted to use the same configuration...

    Genset

I'd say this is a MEP-004 as well. Clearly a 4 cyl Herc engine. I do see another problem, he's missing an alternator (the connector for it is hanging down near the injection pump...)

What all MEP models do members have?

MEP-004 w/ASK. Got as a basket case, been working on cleaning up (had a blown head gasket, with coolant leakage) and will start reassembly in the next week or so. I'm sure I'm going to go down a few dead ends figuring out how it went together...

    M200A1 Landing Leg Rebuild

Well, found the manual (with the great assistance of John) TM 9-2330-205-14 covers the trailer and the landing leg, and has a great breakdown of the parts, and how it is supposed to be assembled. Clearly the nut and lock-washer on the bottom screw gear have parted company from the gear which is...

    M200A1 Landing Leg Rebuild

Ah, but never replace something you can fix and get properly dirty doing so if you can avoid it!!! I think the only problem is that whatever holds the gear that is on the screw either fell off, or is broken. I'm trying to figure out how to get at that bit, I don't look forward to trying to...

    M200A1 Landing Leg Rebuild

I appear to have asked a 'stumper'! I guess no one has ever had to fix or service one of these... Oh, well.

    M200A1 Landing Leg Rebuild

I'm looking for the rebuild instructions for the M200A1 (genset trailer) landing leg. I have TM 9-6115-651-14 which I thought had the instructions but it does not have anything other than 'inspect'. I know I have seen this info somewhere (arrrggggg hate it when that happens!) but can't...

    MEP002a for sale locally

Classic seller's remorse... I'd email him back and say when he's really ready to sell I'd give him $750 for it. [thumbzup] Then I'd delete his email address from my address book, so his replies would be black-holed...

    Bracket on MEP004A Identification

I too think it is for a sledge hammer to drive in the ground rods. But, like yours, mine has nothing but air in it!

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

Absolutely correct, I don't know where I got the ten lead reference. And that being the case, a conversion to single phase may well be much easier. IIRC there are several other references to the conversions on the Internet. The 'magic' place to connect to is TB6, where all 12 leads go. This is...

    rewiring MEP004 for single phase

Here is the diagram to do the conversion. However, the MEP-004A has a ten lead head, where the three common wires are connected together. Where they are connected is something I don't know, it may be at the stator itself, or the patch board, I'm not sure. Zig-Zag connection generally will not...

How to clean the MEP004A Engine comp

Simple Green is fine for many tasks, however it is strongly not recommended for aluminum items, and the FAA does not allow it to be used on aircraft. Not recommended for HMMWVs because of their aluminum bodies. The all steel MEP-004A genset should have few problems however. But, there is an...

How to clean the MEP004A Engine comp

FWIW, the military strongly recommends having it at ambient temperature, and not running the engine for at least one hour after washing. This is to prevent damage to the injection pump. Personally, I'd pick a 'dry' day and (carefully, avoiding electronics/electrical stuff) wash it down. I'd...

    Hercules D198 Lubrication Question

A Hercules expert has informed me that the (rear) stud on the rocker arm has been drilled with an oil feed hole! I'd felt around, and didn't feel any hole-- It took a mirror, a good light but yes, there is an oil feed hole in the rear-most stud! Facing back towards the rear of the engine, where...

    Hercules D198 Lubrication Question

Here is a tough question, hopefully someone knows: What is the path that the oil follows up to the rocker arm shaft? I don't see an oil port from the block to the head, and I don't see clearance on the head studs, but suspect it is allowed to travel up the head studs that hold the rocker arm...

    wheel O-rings

Just a heads up on the Hummer/HMMWV wheels, there are at least three different O ring specifications (8 bolt, 12 bolt old, and 12 bolt new, oh, and heck, I'm sure the 24 bolt wheels have another spec, so that makes four sizes!) If undamaged they are reusable usually. I know of several suppliers...
