M35A2 Rear Spring Bearing Block Wear / Repair

He's on here as @Jeepsinker . He's made excellent videos! Also - trunion! That's what the spring seat pivot is called! Thanks for the reminder :) I love how Firefox thinks that "trunion" is a misspelled word. "Grunion" - really? What is that even? :ROFLMAO:

M35A3 Rim Restoration and Tire Swap Project (Picture-Heavy)

Last year I bought the $60 1/2" impact wrench from Harbor Freight. I haven't tried it on the rims yet, but it got the lug nuts off like they weren't there! Whenever the wheels come up in conversation, I always tell people that the tire swap made me lose 10 lbs, which is true! :ROFLMAO...

M35A2 Rear Spring Bearing Block Wear / Repair

The tandem axles pivot vertically on what's called a "spring seat". The spring seat bearings are under round caps on either end of the spring seat bracket, which holds the whole spring seat assembly together to the frame. The spring seat bearings need to be adjusted every 6000 miles, I...

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

How close are 5-ton rims to the 10-lug rims we see on most heavy commercial trucks? I thought they were interchangeable.

    Engine Identification

Is the deuce the only truck that uses this Continental motor? I thought other antique medium-duty civilian trucks used it too  But I don't know of any off-hand.

    Engine Identification

I think so. I believe parts for the old Continental truck motors are pretty scarce these days, so a running example would be valuable for someone restoring a truck with one of these.

    Axles?

I don't believe the gearing in A3 axles is different. The lower top speed is because the automatic transmission doesn't have an overdrive.

    My newest turd: Jeepsinker's M49A2

I'm sorry to hear about that :( Best wishes on rebuilding! I think it's great that you still have your deuce and the wrecker! I still haven't convinced my wife that I need a wrecker:rolleyes:

    Axles?

Lies! The speedometer only goes up to 60 MPH, so that's as fast as you can go! Too bad that doesn't work with law enforcement though... "Do you know how fast you were going?" "60 miles per hour, officer." "I got you at 90, which is 35 over the limit." "Wow, I didn't think I could go...

    Oshkosh MK48, any experience/owners?

I'm bringing this thread back to life! I saw a MK48 for sale on Facebook Marketplace in PA somewhere. Also on FB Marketplace in PA is a HEMTT for sale, so I was wondering what's better - the MK48 or the HEMTT? (Also as of this post the MK48 is asking around $10000 less than the HEMTT.)...

M35a2 Super Singles Difference & Installation

Rub where, the tread between the tandem axles? I have 395s on my truck and they don't rub their tread against each other. 395s are 46" tires. I think 12.00R20s are 43 or 44 inches.

M35a2 Super Singles Difference & Installation

Yep! But what about how they make the truck handle compared to the stock tires, besides higher speed? Would one notice some of the same effects @Hummer Guy mentioned?

M35a2 Super Singles Difference & Installation

How about the 12.00R20? Does it help that it's narrower than a 365 or 395 but as tall as a 365? 43" diameter.

LMTV (M1079) STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING

Have you checked anything? Possible air, fuel or exhaust restrictions? Replace or clean any filters lately? Maybe this thread off-site would be of help: https://www.thedieselgarage.com/threads/3126-cat-shuts-off-while-driveing.175864/ This fellow had a similar problem and it turns out it...

    Lug Nuts Way Overtorqued (!)

If they can't do that much torque safely, I wouldn't trust them driving any kind of vehicle, not even my kids' tricycle 🙄

    M35a3 schematics

Alright, that's not the "T" I was thinking of. I'm not sure what that is. Where do the lines coming out of it go?

    M35a3 schematics

I believe that's the tank air pressure safety relief valve. It might've been sticking open for some reason. You may want to consider replacing it. There was an MWO to apply a safety relief valve at the compressor as well.

    Lug Nuts Way Overtorqued (!)

My first course of action would've been to take the truck back to the shop and make them redo it at proper torque. If they're going to be jerks about it then I'd leave them a bad review on Google and go elsewhere. Personally I just do it myself. I have a Chinese cast-iron 64:1 torque...

    Greasing a Deuce

Since the spring seat trunion came up again recently, how many tunes of grease should I expect to put into a trunion on one side before it comes out around a loose trunion bearing cap?

    M35A2 / M35A3 - Lets Discuss Civilian Seat Options

That truck is definitely in its element (y) Good luck with your seat project! My truck is my summer car so comfort isn't of much concern to me :p I remember seeing someone a few years ago selling what looked like an ESP truck prototype with a M939 cab on a M44 frame. It came designed with a...
