If we are talking about the M105 series trailers. Some of the older trailers did not have a crank just a fixed landing leg. Take a look at the landing leg on a M105 trailer, if it has two small wheels on it you can crank it. If it has one large wheel you cannot crank it cause it does not the...
Well you guys hit it right on the head. The prime movers for the 105s in our artillery unit were M135s in 1957. We drivers used to sit in the break room and talk trucks of course. Often the subject of the auto GMCs came up. The general feeling was that real men did not drive trucks with...
OK. Just ordered a few of part number 1079K11. Second group of sight glasses from the bottom of the page. Decided to go with that unit so I could get the temp range I wanted. Garp says he might be able to come up with a 90 degree elbow that would do the trick. So nothing to do now but wait...
Yes the CTIS functions the same as before the hub addition. Only thing one has to remember is to step outside and lock in the hubs before engaging the air shift on the front axle.
I think the AVM hubs are around $600 a pair.
Not much work. Just have to think about it before you start...
I did some calling around today on the sight glass availability. Non pipe threaded ones are about impossible to find. So here is plan B.
In some of the responses above someone mentioned that even at best the sight glass is hard to see. That is right I think. So I am now looking for a pipe...
I finally got around to mounting the hubs that I have had sitting around for a while. I went with AVM hubs because I wanted to use the stock hub caps and not have to modify them to much. I had a set of Selectro hubs which work just as well but would have required a lot more modification to the...
I agree with you Gunfreak25 they are a very good truck. While stationed on Okinawa in the late 50s there were tons of the auto GMC's all over the place. Seemed the AF had more than anyone else. They drive completely different than the REO based trucks in my opinion. A person can stop them on...
I got a replacement from the CAT dealer in Rapid City. Exact match. We are luckey in that both CatMan and Garp (heavy equipment field service 18 yrs) are both CAT employees and know their stuff. I know Garp has an A3 also.
My truck leaked also when I got it. All it needed was a new O ring so I was lucky. I noticed the plastic threads were flakey at best. So I need to find a replacement soon. I did see one very late model truck with a different sight glass in it. It was not the plastic one but was real glass set in...
Capt. Marion PB and I are the best of friends we just heckle each other all the time. PB is very good at what he does and a good troop. Someone just needs to keep him in line as MB can't watch him all the time.
hahaha OK you got me PB.
However I know for a fact that the color of the OD paint was mandated to be changed from 23070 to 24087 by the 1st of January 1958.. And the U.S.A. hood marking was also changed at that time to U.S. ARMY. And the star was changed on the hood to point from the rear to...
This is the dust ejector hose I am talking about. Part number from the parts manual for the M35A3. Take note of the "special features" description. This is the 14 inch long hose that goes from the air cleaner to the exhaust. No joke !!!
4720-01-441-4844, 4720014414844, 12448410, RCSK14943...
Thanks CatMan for calling the dust ejector tube what it really is. I have been watching everyone call it an EGR device for a some time. Just wondering when someone would read up on the use of the tube and correct the posting of incorrect information.
Good truck PB. Nice save. Oh ya.......if you are going to give me grief all the time for not having painted the letters on the fenders of the 8n. I can now give you grief for having a truck with the hood star on backwards. It would have been issued with the point on the star pointing to the...
Waayfast this is the trailer I recovered from McCoy this past summer. The bid price was $250.00. The trailer is a 2007 total rebuild and everything is new except the frame and axle. All other parts are new. This trailer had never been issued after the rebuild. If you look at the data plate you...
Rushford , MN is about 67 miles from FT McCoy. Easy drive. I would watch the GL items at McCoy and get just what you want there. They sell more trailers than just about any other Gl site. Also I would get a M101A2 or above revision of the M101 series. That way you can tow it with a good pickup...
