My next mod is rear disks. I hate drum brakes.
There is no "kit" available that I'm aware of, but all the parts you need are "off the shelf" other than the caliper brackets. The links below contain all the information you need to complete the swap. The only issues I'm having now is that I...
A CUCV will not fit on a tow dolly. A friend tried this once and he ended up driving the truck home with a jump. It ways too much for most dollies anyway.
Is there anyone making a cross country trip? I can bring the axle to meet you somewhere within a few hours of where I am (blacksburg, va).
Let me know if, when, and how much!

I got 2 Neverstarts from Wal Mart. I would not recommend it. Spend some coin on good batteries. I spend most of my time taking a battery back to wally world for a replacement. I'm thinking of just taking it as a loss and getting new ones.
I would like to come as well, but I won't be driving the "wheel chock" so you guys will have to make sure your parking brakes work! :-D
I HAVE to have my truck running by then, although I hope it will be going in a week or 2...
I'd just throw a detroit in the diff along with the Overson shafts. That is a pretty serious system without the cost and extra work of air lockers. Detroits are positively 100% locked as long as the gas is on, but will unlock when you're coasting so it is easier to turn.
Make sure you are checking the right fuse. It is different than the standard chevy trucks. I struggles with this for about 3 weeks checking the wrong fuse. The cause was a broken wire to the right front blinker grounding out.
The TM has the diagram for the correct positioning.
Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen that site before!
Sounds like you need to take a couple welding classes at your local community college. That's how I got my start welding and I make stuff all the time now. That was actually my first really attempt at tig welding. I've gotten better...
I'm pretty sure those boots only seal the gear oil in the axle housing. They don't keep water from getting into the wheel bearings, which are outside the axle housing.
Here is a link to my thread on the tie rod I built. Paying that much for the stock rod is a hard pill to swallow, so I built one. It took me about 2 hours to build and it is comparable, if not better than the stout rods you can buy. It is easy to set it up with whatever rod ends you want so...
Well all the local trails I run on currently have multiple water holes and creek crossings. I really want to own a piece of property with a creek/river running through it and I'd like to be able to ford it. What kind of protection does the Marine's fording kit provide (or is that only on 5 tons)?
The real reservation I have about buying a deuce is that the axles aren't sealed. I really don't want to have to repack all the bearings every time I want to run through a creek or a mud hole...
I really like Bjorn's 8x8. It has pressurized axles to keep water out.
