The TM which has great diagrams and information on the CUCV is in the Technical Manuals in "old steel soldiers". Look for the one labelled Unit maintainence of truck tactical cucv in the middle of the page. I could not find one specifically for the M1009, but the two vehicles M1009 and M1008...
steering wheel not straight
Hi; This is an easy vehicle to do an alignment on by yourself. There is only one adjustment on the actual alignment and the other is for the steering linkage. Before you actually do an alignment yo need to see if your pull is due to a dragging disc brake or a bad...
thm400 fluid capacity
Hi;
I checked Mitchell on demand and the tranny holds 11 quarts if it is dry. Sounds like it was way down on fluid. I hope you get things straightened out. I may have some vacuum line diagrams that would apply if you need them. Ideally, there should be a sticker in the...
I have a maxwell house coffee plastic 34 oz container with a handle and I put a short hank of rope with a 1" nut on the end. It holds itself on in the wind and yet the deuce can 'pop' the can off when I start it. It conveniently hangs on the mirror brackets until I retrieve it.
I put it on...
As to going to the dealer for a key,when I asked my local dealer a couple of years ago, they have that information available to them for about ten model years. That would put your CUCV out of range. I could be wrong in your case and I do hope I am wrong for your sake.
Theother solution goes...
Here is a pic of my deuce with an S280 on the back. Don't worry, the straps are going in lieu of the proper cable hold downs. The trailer is carrying an S250 set up for emergency communications. The trailer is an extremely heavy duty Generator trailer and although non military is built very much...
I used material from a GI shelter half to cover my seats. Looks good, proper color and all. Like everything else, my deuce will always be a work in process so I do expect to have to recover them in the future, and who knows what I will find next time.
Field day note: I used the deuce as a "platform for an extension ladder tower with a G5RV at the apex. Propagation was excellent and even ten meters was open. The Operating station was in my S250 that was towed in by the deuce on a trailer. Picures will be posted soon. 73's W2WHT
Hey; This sounds like a great idea to try to establish a section here for Amateur radio operators on Steel Soldiers. Extra class here, and I have a renovated S250 that serves as our incident response group's coomunications controll center. I have the shelter mounted on a civvy generator trailer...
I have an S280 on my deuce. It is roughly 11'-6" high. The shelter weighs around 1400#. The shelter I bought was stripped for refurbishment and has no internals to speak of. I am planning on wiring for 120v and for 12 volts which I will power from the deuce via an invertor.
My intention of...
Hey, I got my deuce on the road here in the "EVIL" empire state and was wondering where to put the cup holder? Seriously recreational deuce driving should not be hampered by a lack of proper personal consumables such as coffee. With the bench seat on the right side there is simply no place for a...
I use "Sticker paper" from Avery. You can get it at Walmart. Somewhere on Steel Soldiers site there is a download for the correct font. I also found the TM for the correct letter sizes and what to put where on the truck. Print the lettering out on your printer, and then using a Stencil knife...
Hey Hawkman
I have tried contacting you since the original post and emails we exchanged. I am deifintely interested. Please email me at

In my post I talked of the flood, and Iam referring to the "wet" that you see when you apply spray paint. The truck I painted yestwerday dried quickly. From what I can tell it is ready for a second coat of primer or finish coat today. I worked at a company where we used a lot of rust...
I sprayed the bed of my deuce today with Rustoleum red orimer and did not have any naptha, or zylene soo I used Coleman fuel. It worked better than the other two and it dried quickly with a great seal as evidenced by the flood while spraying it with an HVLP gun at about 40#. I mixed around 65%...
Professor;
The NMO mounts were put on the hooch by my friend who was one of the three previous owners. From what I can tell, it is a straight connector and uses a 3/8 hole to mount and all he did is run the bit all the way through the roof. It appears that the wire truns straight through.
I...
Hey professor...The majority of my antennas are NMO mounts directly through the roof. They work great and do not leak. I resealed the roof this spring as a PM.
I have 4 SO-239 connections on the right front patch bay on the door itself. I use weather tight covers to protect the connector when...
