I believe the hydraulic head itself is leaking, where the two packings prevent the fluid in the pump body from escaping upwards past the head connection. I would replace the head. ..

Do you have another hydraulic head?

And today we continued to separate the two halves, and then I dragged the bed away far enough so to bring my trailer back and load the engine half.....
