Need a 6x6 Road Tractor in Central Florida

Hopefully get a truck on super singles, air down to 10psi, double up a good strong chain as short as possible so it picks the front of the box up, and drag it to the road.

    backup in low

I was thinking a half moon welded underneath each end by the installer to help with spread and shearing of the bolts, would make a tighter custom fit for variances between different cases and caps. Also the photos are not mine. From another thread around here someplace. Thinking Wes posted them...

    backup in low

My thought for at least the front side of the case, if someone with access to a burning table and machining capabilities could make a girdle to bolt on over the caps for the shafts. Should be fairly simple to make and install as well as quite marketable.

    backup in low

Remove or trim the washer so the front axle switch does not auto engage when you put the transfer-case in low range. Supposedly helps prevent transfer-case breakage. I trimmed mine quite some time ago, not sure what the thinking was making the front auto engage in low range was in the first...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Looks like two different customers junk has went to lunch at the same time, and need to upgrade. Think M715mike has 8.3, Mullaney looks to have something else. Assuming 855?

    M923a2 coolant system repair

Yes, wet liners. I used cheap green Miles Evercool with SCA precharge in mine.

    M923a2 coolant system repair

Good time to install a coolant filter as well. Mine a year after what I thought was a thorough flush.

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

IIRC you do not need to dump the tires down to emergency pressure when using the run-flat button. You can hit run-flat and Hwy just the same, and it should keep the CTIS from timing out as quickly. Stellaevil is the subject matter expert on this and could correct me if I’m wrong.

    M923a2 coolant system repair

Will, do you remember? I thought I remember reading about problems with some of the water pumps on the C motors having plastic impeller that break up? I had a lot of crap in my cooling system, work my truck pretty hard in some fairly high temps, and hardly ever have my fan come on. Not sure...

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

You may have a bad hub seal allowing a little gear oil into the CTIS. That could likely swell the diaphragm in the wheel valve as well as the QR valve flap and cause problems. I should have some used wheel valves around, maybe even a new one or two. Let me know if you need them to try. I think...

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

Do you have a tire, or two that goes down over time? Ditch the rotten dust cover on the QR valve. Inflate all the tires to the same pressure, then see if the QR valve still exhausts while attempting to fill the tires. If it does, pull it off and check for debris in the rubber flap, or the flap...

Delemma - need input re: tires for M929A2 - govplanet shipped wrong size

I’m cheap and would run the 14s off road untill they pop, unless your running alot of side hills. Then I would go with 395s unless your running in a lot fo soft ground and need the floatation, then do the 16s

    Horsepower

Good read on transfer case breakage theories. I almost stalled my transmission completely out, 1rst gear, low range, wide open throtle, dragging my 25 ton loader up out of a mud hole with a thrown track and fortunatly did not break mine.

    Horsepower

Looks like you figured out the photos, keep them coming! The torque rod bushings just get old and pop off under stress, I have never heard of transfercase range, or travel direction having a major effect on when they pop, but once one goes the others usually are short to follow. If you have...

    Horsepower

Yes, if he wants to build a truck that all would be nice, especially a stronger transfercase, manual trans, and an engine brake or retarder.

    Horsepower

I think with a little patience and maintenance, you have the perfect truck for the job! You can buy and press just the bushings in yourself, and you might as well replace them all and hopefully not worry about them for another 20 years. There is a good thread on the replacement here, but I...
