    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

The governor will not go to wide open throttle ( WOT ) just because you pulled the shut down out to fast. Wide open throttle is caused by a sticking fuel control unit assembly. Happens when operators do not leave the shut down cable pulled out after they leave the truck. Then when they go to...

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Never had one so stuck that it would not release. Maybe spray brake cleaner in the hole and spin the delivery valve. Maybe if you have the center bolt out of the top of the Head put some air to it and maybe it will pop out.

    Removing, rebuilding, reinstalling Hydraulic Head

Delivery valve. Yep pull it out and clean port and valve. Small screwdriver in the slot and it will rotate to get it loose.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Happy fricking 4th. Got up early before it got to hot and pulled rear rear shaft on the 1088. My data plate has the extra D stamp but they did not balance my front or rear rear propeller shaft. O well what else is new with the former MV's as in got to check everything somebody else did. One...

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

You say left it out. Looks like I see some of the thrust bearing and thrust washer. You think someone just did not put grease on both to make them stick to the hub on install?

    High pressure oil line

Still wait on the line to come in but I stopped by Ring Power and picked up some O rings. Believe I got the correct one for the new line to governor fitting. Cat # 3J7354.

I called them last week and then they were not quoting shipping cost because of the Cootie bug virus.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Finished up my OFFROAD ONLY exhaust. Almost sounds like a real truck now.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Had the front propeller shaft balanced and new U joints. Couple of tricks to make it go a little easer when by yourself. One is I use this cable master lock to hold up one end of the shaft because I do not have a helper. You can adjust it looser or tighter real quick to get the shaft level so...

    High pressure oil line

Well as said I will sea soon. Also they are calling it a high pressure line but it seems like it only has to carry what ever the oil pressure of the motor is. As to what the oil line does would seem like it would be just like the Deuce IP engine oil to IP feed line. Just puts some oil on moving...

    High pressure oil line

Agree no vibration on hose. Was wondering about oil flow too but it only feeds the governor / fuel pump area so I can not see it needing that much GPH and not that big of loss with hose. I will report back when it gets here.

    High pressure oil line

Hope you get it figured out and thanks for the thread I just ordered one. For the money spent driving 80 mile round trip to the Hyd. shop in Ocala that I trust then buying all the fittings it was worth it to me to just click a couple of buttons. Little high on there shipping end to me but once...

Interesting explanation of importance of driveshaft phasing

OK see what you are saying and that makes cents. I told them how I found it out of phase and I just clocked it three splines one way to get it looking like it was in phase. Maybe as you said I did not hear him right but no matter what they should get it right. Another thing as said my data plate...

Interesting explanation of importance of driveshaft phasing

Well I did not know if it was 180* out from when it was balanced but learned something by removing it today. So looking at the shaft now that it is out my front was never balanced. So I took it to Ocala to the drive line shop and dropped it off. My data tag has the D stamp and the rears have...

Interesting explanation of importance of driveshaft phasing

Why they did not key the shaft with one bigger spline I will never know. Guess that is what we get from the lowest bidder. Heck the propeller shaft on my M37 is keyed. Yea repacking the inner bearings and setting up the lash is not a bad job. On my rears I capped off the hubs and removed the...

Interesting explanation of importance of driveshaft phasing

Just for smitts and giggles I decided to put on new U joints on my MTV front propeller shaft. Here is why with the splines as big as they are being one tooth off you would have to be a blind man not to see it. One pic of big splines one pic in phase and as said one spline off. I do not need a...

    WOOHOO got my truck plated!

Bottom line from talking to him is they really do not want MV's on the road so to limit there use is the first step. Be interesting to see if a bobbed truck would pass my inspectors liking. I only use my trucks for show or play in the mud at this time anyway so I am happy.

    WOOHOO got my truck plated!

I do not know I believe they want to see it like I said like it came out of service. Camo, Tan or OD is what he told me he wants to see. No purple with stripes I guess. Former military colors.

    FLORIDA REGISTRATION - ANYONE?

Yep got the former military tag and title done today. No mechanical inspection just wanted to see if it looked like it did when it came out of service. Correct paint and he did not want to see LED head lights. Good thing I never thought about changing them. He was not even worried that I did not...
