Not sure where your trying to fish big cannon plug through. It only has to go through 1 hole and hole is big enough to accommodate plug then a grommet seals hole. I've heard it's possible to change harness without removing body but it's a lot easier to remove body to swap harness.

Well since 85 is the first year of the military HMMWV a HMMWV with a 84 build date would have caused a few problems I'm guessing.

So you don't already have a pintle adapter? Or the arm between the shield and adapter? Are you planning on making them? Why not just buy them? If making them you can make it what ever size you want. They are a different pattern.
