Are the top sections of these antennas interchangeable? The AS-1729 tip has part number AT-1095 and the SINCGARS antenna tip is A3017901-2, both seem to fit perfectly on either bottom pieces...
TIA
Had some requests for information on the Stewart Warner fuel burning heaters and thought that providing info in general might be a good idea (applies to Benmar also).
This article by yours truly was first published in the Feb 2010 issue of MVM and is attached with permission from the magazine...
Can anyone name the recapping company that uses REOR as an identifier?
I have posted the question on a tire forum, but had no luck, so far.
Several of the tires on my xm757 have this marking and any help would be appreciated.
FWIW.
My fuel burning heater is the Benmar and was installed 2009-2010 in the xm757 8x8 truck. Its the proper heater for this vehicle and pretty much installed as shown in the TM's.
It has started reliably every time since installed as follows:
2011 Jan 02; "Smoked a lot at first. Defrost temp...
Started the xm757 for the 97th time this morning on the NiCd start battery, 256 times total since getting the truck home.
Who else keeps tab on this kind of thing?
Tested my heater the other day and was reminded of how long it takes to get them started. It was the first time in about 18 months and it took exactly 4 (four) minutes before it was running on its own.
Over the years a number of individuals have contributed one way or another to my xm757 8x8 resto project, here is the list, if you think you have been left out, let me know and I'll revise the listing. Dealers/ebay have been left out.
(This shows how invaluable the steelsoldiers site is to this...
My xm757 comes with a "dummy" light for transmission overheat warning and I'd like to replace it with a gauge.
A "transmission temp" gauge has a 160 to 320 °F range from what I understand, but I would rather use a regular MS24543-2 coolant temp gauge with a 120 to 240 range for better resolution...
Been driving the 757 a bit lately and have had problems with the throttle sometimes sticking. On my latest drive, the governor mechanism locked up in "full throttle" and I had a lot of fun driving it about 2 miles back home, braking and shifting the automatic transmission within permissible road...
With power outages popping up so often these days and so much talk about generators, I thought my solution may be of interest.
It is based on the ability of NiCd cells to take on a charge at a high rate, perhaps ten times that what's normal for Lead Acid types.
Going on two years now, my xm757...
This specifically applies to the 100 amp generator on my 8x8.
Does anyone have any info on the effect or stress on the bearing under load? My old generator has begun to make a squeaking noise when under heavy load, but ends when the load is reduced.
It's used to charge a bank on Nicad cells...
Almost six years ago, the cranetruck began the long haul from OK to VA with the xm757 as shown below. Last Saturday, the 757 was used to tow the cranetruck back after it threw a rod on its journey to its new home.
The 6x6 had a much easier time towing the 8x8 than the other way around as it...
There are numerous articles in the PS magazines over the years about the grounding of the oil pressure gauge, in particular (example shown in image #1).
The Faria instruments were designed to simplify production, one coil vs two and a plastic body, molded for the components. However, there is...
