    Turbo for NHC250 Cummins?

Did a little internet search to see if anyone has added a turbo to a NHC250 Cummins in a 5-ton M939 series truck but didn't come up with anything. Curios if anyone has ever put together a kit. Is it practical to do, or are there engine limitations that make it a bad idea? My brother did a 302...

    CCKW troop seat/cargo rack pics

I'm looking for some pics of the troop seat & cargo rack hardware for a CCKW. I have an all steel cargo box on a closed cab truck. Trying to figure out what all the parts look like so I know what I'm looking for. Some of the small parts will be easy enough to make but others not so much. If...

    Ben Hur Trailer Landing leg

Does anyone know if the landing leg on a Ben Hur trailer ever had a pnuematic tire? Most all the pictures and manual info I see show a stamped steel "tire" but a few restoration pics and a few parts I've seen advertized have a rubber tire. Was the rubber tire ever used or is that a later...

    M931 Alternator not charging

The alternator gauge on my M931 seems to work properly and normally reads in the green but I noticed a few days ago that it's reading in the yellow. It's got new batteries and they're fully charged since I keep a solar battery maintainer on it. I checked voltage at the batteries (engine off) and...

    Replacement Air Governor for M931

I noticed that the rear edge of the hood on my M931 has been rubbing the top fitting on the air governor. It's worn quite a bit into the brass fitting and it looks to have hammered on it enought to either bend the fitting or partially strip the threads in the governor body. Not something I...

    Closed cab seat

CCKW top bows / troops seats

Can someone post a few pics of the top bows / troop seats for a CCKW-353? Looking for a few pics to help me identify some parts that I've run across. Better yet, if you've know of any parts for sale I'd be very interested. Thanks

    M931 power steering pump

Does anyone know if you can get seals for the power steering pump on an M939 series truck? My M931 is leaking...not horrible but I'd reseal it if I can find parts......or do I just take it apart, measure up the seals and go to NAPA and find something that will fit?

    Ether can for M939 trucks?

Is the ether starting fluid can for the M939's the same as older commercial trucks? The one I"m thinking of is the same type of container as a propane torch bottle.

    Tailgate chains

I bought a pair of tailgate chains that are supposed to fit a CCKW. Do the pics look like they're supposed to? They measure about 20" from the inside of the hooks to the inside of the mounting link.....is that about right? They look too new to be originals but if they're right I don't really...

M931 5-Ton Front Axle Wt. Rating

Trying to find out the weight rating for the front axel on a 5-ton M931. The model no. on the tag is FN 1240RSAX 1 Some info I found indicated that the "12" in the model no indicates a 12,000 lb axle but not all of the model number conformed to the format. Anyone know if 12,000 is correct...

CCKW Parts list cross reference to NAPA or others.

I remember seeing a list of parts (seals, filters, etc.) for CCKW's and other trucks that were cross referenced to Napa numbers (or other suppliers) that are still available. Anyone know where I saw it?...can't seem to find it again. I did cross ref. the inner wheel bearing seals and...

    M931 to Civ. Lowboy wiring

I've got a lowboy trailer that I'm fixing up and thought I had the wiring worked out but now I'm not sure. The trailer is older and is wired using only 4-wire cable with the frame acting as ground. It's wired: Brown- Tail/Marker Red- Stop...

    Starting CCKW Rebuild......Finally

After having owned this CCKW-353 more than 20 years I finally pulled it into the shop to start a restoration that hopefully won't take another 20 years. Pulled the cargo box and cab and stored them away in another building so that I can begin with the chassis. The engine was pulled a couple of...

M931 Transmission Selector Not working properly

The transmission on my M931 shifts and pulls fine but the only problem is that when you put the selector in any other position besides 1-5 it just goes ahead and shifts like it was in the 1-5 position. If, for example, I put the selector in 1-3 it should limit the trans to shifting no higher...

    M931 Removing Brake Chamber Assembly

I'm trying to remove one of the rear brake chamber assemblies from my M931 and I'm having difficulty getting it loose. I tried using a punch to loosen the lock nut (#10 in the diagram) without success. There's not much room to work on the inside of the brake backing plate. Before I get too...

I have an intermittent problem with the trailer air supply on my M931 Here are my symtoms: When working normally: I have about 125-130 psi on both air gauges and when I press the trailer valve it locks in like it should and the emergency trailer line has pretty much the same pressure as dash...
