Last Sunday on the way home from the Hartford Vet parade, the shifter in my M37 broke off at the floor. My first question is, has anyone ever heard of that happening? To date, no one has including John at Midwest.
The part that broke was the transmission upper shift lever, that attaches to the...
Is anyone from COMVEC going to do this parade? I'm planning on it, meet location is the Cromwell K-Mart, departure at 0930. Anyone else with an MV who would like to join us, go to the COMVEC website, print out the membership app and bring it and $20 dues with you!
I'm looking for the appropriate radio model for use in a Vietnam M37 guntruck. Time period would be summer of 69-71.
Also, there was someone (in the DC area?) that had CD's of the AFRN Vietnam programs. I tried a search and couldn't locate, anyone have a link?
At the Weare, NH Rally last weekend, I spoke briefly to an M37 owner who had installed a "plastic" cooling fan in his M37. I'm interested in a part number, so if anyone knows who he is or how I can contact him, please speak up.
TIA
Truck had NH Antique plates, I may have a photo of the plate...
I have a Mermite Can that I'm looking to spiff up and was looking for a good aluminum polish/cleaner for the inside of the can. I have all kinds of stuff for fiberglass, plexi, cars etc but need something safe for the Aluminum. Any recommendations?
I used to be able to cut and paste a web link into a reply for a thread. For a while now, when I hit ctrl V (paste) the link won't paste, I have to type in the link longhand. I'm wondering if something has happened here?
I can't be sure, but I think it happens both at work and home, so maybe...
I've seen photos from the day in Nam showing various color lug nuts (white, silver and yellow) on M37 and larger gun trucks. The lug nuts on my truck need paint, so I'm trying to decide on either staying with the green to match the body color or going to yellow. I photoshopped a photo of my...
At the Guilford Fairgrounds, Guilford, CT. This is a car show that usually sees 1 or 2 MVs. This year, the special is pick-ups, which is including commercial trucks, fire, police and MVs.
I'm planning on bringing my M37GT, let's get a good MV turnout and show off our green iron!!

For those who don't get to the guntruck forum, there is an update on my M37: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/gun-trucks/85669-introducing-boonierat.html
Photos are in that thread!
My M37 tribute guntruck. Short box armor, based on Otto, Raider's Light Work and others. Two M-60's, one each side as seen in several photos. Still in progress as I have the side window plates to make up and the interior of the box to outfit, but otherwise, ready to go!
Lots of time, effort...
I know that the fix weapons were 50 cals, 30 cals, mini's or M-60s but did the GT crews stash anything else aboard? I'm wondering if they kept M-16's, M-79's and maybe LAWS rockets handy in the gunbox?
I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terms, so feel free to ask for clarification or to correct me. I'm looking for the military designation for (I think) the pintle mount for a M60 , Vietnam era. I'll be looking for two of these mounts as well as the mounting plates for the M60s. If anyone...
The date has been set for the 35th annual COMVEC Military Vehicle show as Saturday, June 9, 2012. Location will be the Chester Fairgrounds and we're hoping for a dry day for a change. More details to follow....
M37 Update 7 Weeks In
It's been just 24 days since I recovered my M37 and thought it was time for a progress report. In no particular order:
Install keyed battery disconnect switch
Re-cover passenger seat
Change gear lube in axles, transfer case and transmission
Install new axle vents
Replace...
I'm changing the fluids in my transmission and transfer case and was wondering what was a good lube to use?
Don't want to go synthetic, too much money. Local store has GL-5 (80-90) and GL-4 (85-90) in gallons.
This Sunday, Sept 18, 2011 is the annual Simsbury Airfest at the Tri-town Airport. They feature airplanes (C-5 fly over planned), cars, trucks and MVs. 8-3, get there early as the weather is supposed to be perfect and there WILL be a crowd. Event is listed as free for spectators (not sure...
I'm looking for how tall the bumper numbers should be for a M37 in Vietnam. Front bumper and rear bumperettes as I'm sure what will fit on the front won't fit on the rear. I'll be ordering stencils soon and would like to get it right the first time.
M37 Recovered! Pic Added
I just finished recovering my first MV, a 1953 M37. The day went well, with only the last 40 miles in the rain. I had to remove the cargo bows to get it in the garage so I got soaked doing that, but otherwise an uneventful day....just the way I like it.
No pics, with...
