M720 pump replacement or rebuild

MEP-005 engine surges, won't stay at consistent throttle
After removing the glass-ball fitting and replacing it with a straight through non-restricted fitting, I've been able to get my MEP-005 to start and run. I obtained a MEP-005 genset earlier this year. I had it running for a couple of hours back in June before it stopped running, and haven't been back to it since, until this week.
