MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

Thanks Chris but does that mean that fuel will/can bypass the aux pump and overfill the main tank?

MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

Are you using the bung adapter on top of the barrel with the threaded copper pickup tubes?

MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

That is exactly what I am asking. Do you think the aux pump has enough suction to open a check valve?

MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

My barrel will be on the concrete floor and so will my genset. What is the important height measurement, the pickup tube or the height of fuel line connection to the barrel? Pretty sure my pickup tube will be lower than the genset aux fuel connection but the top of the barrel will be higher.

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Crazy that Generac would require constant 120v power to keep the battery charged in an off grid generator. Would have cost them just a few dollars to include a solar battery tender. Also I was told it didn't have an alternator or stator for battery charging while running. The Kohler looks...

MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

Yikes. Did it spill out the fill cap or is there an overflow tube?

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Yes I have been thinking about this a lot and continue to explore other options. I've spoken with companies about installing a Generac propane backup generator outside. However I'm not willing to spend 6k on an aircooled genset that many people think are crap. I even had a Generac dealer tell...

MEP-802a auxiliary pump: any chance fuel can siphon from 30 gallon drum?

I have seen speculation about diesel siphoning if using the aux fuel pump with an aux fuel tank that is too high. I am planning on using a 30 gallon plastic drum as my aux tank with the military bung adapter as the fuel pickup. Obviously I would thoroughly test this while present but my plan...

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

The best price I can find for a new fuel bung with the copper pipe is on Ebay. $100 bucks shipped. Anyone know where I can source one cheaper? Green Mountain Gensets wants $300 for one.

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

I found a local source for the plastic chemical barrels that the auto car washes use. They have two bungs on them. Thinking of one bung for the 802 and the other for a transfer pump for my tractor. Will strap it to a pallet so I can take it to get filled with offroad diesel. Any concern...

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Thanks. I found one one for a decent price but it doesn't have the pickup tubing. Rubber compression part looks good. It it easy to source and install new pickup tubing?

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Stationary and refilled in place. Tank will be located inside the garage along with the generator. The generator is exhausted to the outside through a thimble. A professional did the install and exhaust. Genset is currently located on isolation rubbers but I am going to bolt it to the...

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Sound like a great idea but not sure how it's possible without a fuel pickup. Unless you are talking about putting the aux fuel line directly in the barrel. Seems like the braiding on the fuel line would eventually dissolve and clog the aux fuel pump.

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

So I think I will go with this 12 gal plastic tank. Any chance I can easily source an adpater to use the aux hose that came with my MEP-802a or should I just use 1/4" to a 5/16" barb and use new fuel line? My fuel line is 1,200 miles away with my generator so I can't take it to the plumbing...

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Would a plastic tank like this be better than aluminum to keep moisture out? A little on the small side but probably large enough for what I need. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BL5KMHB/?coliid=I2QSJ8EHSZ16E8&colid=2QJFR8HBU36XT&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Thanks. That looks nice. But isn't gravity feed the wrong kind of tank for these gensets?

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Thanks for the tip but 55 gallons is jut too much. Place won't be vacant for more than 60 days (90 at the most) and the generator will only be remotely run over the winter when snow is covering my solar panels or when there are three cloudy days in a row.

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Thanks. I already own one of those but I'll be running the genset unattended with auto start at an off grid vacation place with solar. Will only run if snow covers the panels for any length of time. 5 gallons likely not enough. Is the "4 can combo" four cans somehow welded together for 20...

MEP-802a: need aux fuel tank 20 gallon preferred but 10 would probably work

Need an aux tank for my MEP-802a. I already own a couple of the aux lines but no bung adapters and no tank. Can anybody recommend a complete tank ready to go or something I can easily put together? Thanks.
