    Doghead Relay Mod Question

Obligatory "Sorry I know next to nothing about electricity" pre-excuse. Got everything together for doing the doghead starter relay mod proper tomorrow. I know the original relay can stick on and all kinds of bad things can happen. Its gotta go, no question about that. In fact mentioning this...

    Looking At Adding A Radio

I'm almost a novice when it comes to things audio and electrical. I did find someone capable of installing "Whatever I bring in" as what they had in house was too techy/aftermarket looking for my tastes. I noticed the dash in the 1009 has 3 holes in it for speakers from the factory, 2x 3.5...

    M1009 Repainting Tips

Tried to find a thread talking about what I'm planning and came up short. All the threads are about making a new camo pattern where there wasnt one before or what kind of paint to use. Neither of those are questions I have. So my truck has been looking kinda faded since I got it. I have the tri...

Modified Air Cleaner Design, Would It Help?

So I saw this in a video awhile back, what it looks like is this guy cut the sides of his air cleaner off so the filter is exposed on all sides instead of the normal 3 or 4 inch wide hole, kinda like how air cleaners were on old muscle cars. I'm thinking of copying him, but I've never seen...

    Weird Glowplug Resistor Bypass Issue

So I bypassed the glow plug resistor like has been outlined many times by other users. Just tried it with the original gp relay just to see what would happen, and maybe save a couple bucks if it worked. It seemed to work kind of at least. The glow plug relay and wait light kick on with the key...

Bosch 80034 (Duratherm ?) Resistance in Ohms

Had the joy of having my truck barely start at 44 degrees the other day, it's time for glow plugs. Picked out Bosch 80034s based on several different opinions from here and other sites. Saw a couple reviews mention occasionally having quality control issues with a plug or two, mainly with...

AcDelco Replacement Lock Cylinders, General Anti-Theft Tips

So I've been wanting to get away from the common CUCV keys working for my truck. Changing out the cylinders is a pretty straightforward process, what I'm wondering is if the replacement AcDelco cylinders that you can get anywhere online are keyed unique or if they're all keyed the same model to...

    Dent Removal with CARC ?

So my M1009 is finally getting nice enough where the dents in the roof are bothering me, and I want to do something about them before summer. Has anyone ever tried using dent suction cups on CARC before? Does it work, or does CARC's texture make it not adhere?

    Opinions on M1009 Tires

So my either original, or at least not far off of original Wrangler At/s's are pretty worn down and dry rotted. Its almost time for tax refunds, and I've kicked around a few ideas on tires, but wanted to get some outside input before I make up my mind. 1. Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner At: Got a...

    M1009 Gear Oil Capacity Question

Is this information from the CUCV wiki accurate for the 10 bolt axles in the M1009? Front capacity is 4.5 pts. Rear capacity is 5.4 pts. I ask because every other CUCV uses a dana 60 front and a 14 bolt rear, and the wiki doesn't specify what type of axle those capacities are for.

Cost for replacing front leaf springs and shocks?

Title says most of it. Got an estimate of ~$850 with parts for the job which seemed kinda steep to me. I definitely want to have it done professionally just in the event something goes horribly wrong for insurance purposes. Any opinions?

Overcharging after alternator rebuild and new belts?

Finally fixed my gimpy gen 2 that was either not charging or barely charging my rear battery. Which great, no more dimly glowing gen 2 light. But now that its fixed the voltmeter is reading in the low red. Worth noting I did give the rear battery a 1 hr charge at one point. Does the voltmeter...

    M1009 Pintle Hitch Strengthening?

Is there a good way to strengthen the internals of where the pintle mounts on these trucks? I've heard all kinds of horror stories about other people seeing military trailers along the side of the road with ripped out pintles and bumper mounts still attached near army bases in the 80s and 90s...

    M1009/Blazer Tailgate Cables

My oem cables are worn to the point where I feel its unwise to climb into the truck through the back. The only replacements I've seen are Dorman generic cables that seem to be half the thickness of the originals, which to me translates to "They must be crappy" Am I incorrect in thinking this...

Cucv Correct Gauge Cluster Ribbon/Printed Circuit

So I've been chasing misc electrical issues in my m1009, the most obnoxious of which was the speedometer not illuminating at night. Took the dash apart and figured that part of it out, but after replacing bulbs and reassembly the oil pressure light (above gen 2) and the right turn signal light...

Normal For M1009 To Smoke Under Load?

Hey there! Just took the plunge into the military vehicle world last week, and so far it's been interesting. My 86 has documented 38k miles, and no apparent issues other than some surface rust on the frame and minor non-drivetrain annoyances. Motor seems smooth, and looks great all around...
