Brand new too, built in 1/06, and only has 27 hours on her, the seats in the cab still had that "new car" smell. Whaddaya think?
Found these in storage compartments under the seats, joystick units for working the boom controls.
The heart of the beast, a brand-new Caterpillar C12...
Well, we got McVeyMac's M35A2C home safe and sound late last night. An adventure as always. To see pictures of the trip, just visit this thread right here. He ought to be stopping by sometime soon, he's probably still sleeping all the miles off...
Guy who works as a battery expert for the local University sent this to my Dad, who forwarded it to me. According to the source the battery man got the image from, these are all DEAD batteries used up by the troops over in Iraq.
Leo, an ol' Nam Vet from the neighborhood came by the other day to check out the deuce, he knew we had bought one but hasn't seen it since we refurbished it.
Well, as he was checking her out, he walks over to the 105 trailer and points out a pair of small holes in the tailgate. They've been...
We pulled a 77' Lincoln Town Car (all 4800+ lbs of it) out of the ruts it had sunken into, PLUS it had flat rear tires, without even hardly trying. Low range and throttle, and out it came :)
After getting Walter's M35 home, and getting a better chance to look it over, we've discovered that the block is cracked, and pretty severely too.
Looks like someone forgot to put antifreeze in it
So, Walt has essentialy bought himself a 6 ton paperweight, but fear not! For he emailed...
Okay, here's what I need to know, what are the fill capacities for the driveline components in an M35A2?
Specificaly, I need to know how much fluid goes into the tranny, T-case and differentials, and what kind of off-the-shelf lube you could get at a place like Napa for example would be...
And the good news first, she runs! And we'll probably be able to limp her home on her own. We'll have to jury-rig a few things in addition to what we did yesterday on initial inspection.
All the fluids had been drained out, and in thier haste to do so, whoever did it decided to not take...
We're comming down to the wire, and the weather has turned a bit rainy on us, but I think we can still finish up the one or two things we need to do to be show-ready w/ our M35A2 and M105A2
Wanna see some pics of the progress? Of course you do!
go here...
We just got a spray gun and enough CARC-imitation paint to redo our deuce, and since we'll be stenciling it up after that, I'm going back into research to try and find out more about our truck's history or at least creating a convincing fabrication that's "close enough"
I found some old pics...
And said we have to plan a road trip for the deuce to pickup somthing he just won for us......

Oh, and for those of you playing at home, we have about 3-4 weeks left before car showtime.
It's gonna be close, but we can do it
I was looking at the deuce's data plate today, and there seems to be two groupings of numbers on it.
from left-to-right it reads
04D-27371 *space* 0525-19384
In the second grouping, the "0525" is painted on the plate, not part of the punched set of numbers
Which one of these two is...
Got more stuff for the Deuce' this week
The mermite cooler, "Mermite" being what you and I would call "Thermos" Basicaly, it's a big insulated lunchbox for food and stuff incase you've never heard of it
And, a set of maintenence manuals, they were printed in 1980, but look to be more or...
Ken Kublo (570-663-2805) of Kublos Surplus in Brackney, Pennsylvania (near Scranton) apparently can set you up at a reasonable price (according to my dad), and I don't doubt it since he sold us a deuce for only $3,000
After a lot of testing and a couple regulator rebuild attempts, it appears...
