So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I have a Bosch P-7100 “P” pump, gear, supports, intake cover, and injector lines, as removed from a 300hp 8.3L Freightliner FL70 if somebody has to have it. Won’t let it go for cheap though. The pump alone gets up to $900 used on eBay. Hi Will !!! Awesome to hear from you. Hope retirement...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Shouldn’t. Make sure you have a good state of tune before you begin. Clean fuel and air filters, dip tubes and soft fuel lines not sucking air, brakes fully releasing, proper tire pressure, etc....

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

It depends on how much load you put on the engine. For example, towing or up freeway hills. Once you increase the fuel rate, you will then be able to melt pistons if you are not careful. This means driving by the EGT gauge. If going uphill, you’ll have to watch the EGT and either downshift...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

nevrenufhp has been a great resource here for the Bosch MW injection pump tickling. We're lucky to have him. For anybody jumping into the middle or end of this, the screw on the top portion of the pump under a cap is for pre-boost fueling. This is said to make a large difference in stop...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Glad you like it. Don’t worry, you’ll learn to hate me like everybody else.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Your stuff is broke also? This is supposed to be a power thread. Do we need to start a carnage thread? I could go first with some jumped dog bones, maybe a wire harness that had some spontaneous combustion going on...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Check em’ all while you are there, hate to see more carnage pics 2 weeks from now. Your girlfriend was probably texting you undy pics right before you got to that bolt set, and you skipped over it when you put the phone down. I don’t thread bolts in all the way by hand anymore just for that...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Don’t you first need to figure out how to torque the rocker arm hardware to spec?

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Start a new thread. Post your results as mentioned so we can create a library of knowledge.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Then you want an ISL. Same engine, but 400hp/1200ft-lb stock.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

It is in marine with the appropriate damper. Ask member grendel here. He has a GSK (governor spring kit) in his 8.3 and has wound it up. He also felt abnormal vibration at elevated RPM that the hi spec damper likely absorbs. I can’t promise your engine will stay together at anything over...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Diesels really don’t have such. The stock governor on our mil spec 8.3 pulls out fuel at 2200-2300rpm. If you are asking at what rpm it throws a rod, I’m not sure that is known here, or anywhere besides the tractor pulling group.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Nope, they are a perfect fit. They will rev to about 3100-3400 in an 8.3L. You’ll want to manually shift the trans when you really need the power, as these will not change the trans shift points. During normal driving, no problem. The 8.3L in marine apps spin up to 3400, but they do use a...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

So I ended up grabbing the 8.3L engine, 6 speed manual Eaton trans, and 3 banger Yanmar from the above vehicle. Engine is for sale as a rebuildable core or parts if anybody needs. Price in classifieds. Would consider selling the Yanmar also. I really just wanted the manual trans setup which...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The reefer engine units are specific and obscure. It has a gigantic oil pan that hangs down below it as an appendage, holds gallons of oil (and only a 650cc engine). This is because it runs continuously, is 10' in the air, and they know will never get checked or changed again. That makes it...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I scored a second 12mm P-7100 injection pump, gear, lines, and intake, from an intercooled civilian 8.3L. This reefer truck also has an awfully cute Yanmar 3 cylinder liquid cooled diesel engine in the chiller unit. I'm now studying the pump oiling path, and need to understand how it is done...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The key slot is just there to confuse you. It is not used. Taper fit to gear. Your thinking is correct, pull gear, back up 8 degrees, re-install, should give you 16 degrees. Can confirm with spill port timing method, easy to do.

It will also be know as "The pump that kicked grendel's a#@".

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Also being addressed. Larger turbo, different intake (remove restrictive after-cooler), and front mount full size Volvo charge air cooler like 4xDesign did, factory sized for a 14L Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine.
