What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yes, that's what I did, The job wasn't too bad after I made the press tool so I could maintain pressure on the drill in those weird spots

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Did this a while back actually, but finished adding safety plates to torque rod ends. Not the most fun, but not horrible after making that press. also separated my batteries, isolated 2 bad ones and am working on getting them back up to snuff hopefully

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Made a portable press to help drill my torque rod ends for safety plates. It works great, might not fit the upper inners, but fits the rest. Shop supervisor pebbles on site.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thank you! I think Ill pass on the welding, my concern also was causing a separation and I'm not a fan of cooling the weld with water, that's a no no on welds I've been taught. I think I'm going to build a little Contraption to help me put pressure on the drill under the truck when I'm drilling...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Checked all my torque rod ends by flexing them, I do this around quarterly, they all pass, but are looking kind of crusty, I plated one last year that I think didnt flex back as it should. I drilled and tapped that one, I want to do the rest as a precaution, but it is a pain in the but, does...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Had the piglet on fire watch while burning brush for 12 hours... lots of brush, had to run the hose up the hill and douse a smoldering stump. Did a nice little putt around afterwards.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I picked up a winch and hydraulic setup for mine, I plan on setting it up in the back of the truck if I can work it out I really don't like the front bumper sticking four feet forward. I also have an 18000 pound Warn that I want to make a mount for in the front.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That's not surprising, it's really dry out. I picked up a backpack sprayer to add to the arsenal. I could have stopped it if I had one on me because the immediate and more effective response I could have launched.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Used mine, particularly my fire fighting skid setup! I was winching trees down the hill and had a cable break in spark a fire. I wasn't able to stop the fire but I did stop it from spreading towards any buildings, no structures no neighbors were harmed just vegetation. The second photo is the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks again Simp. I made a plate for the bad torque rod bushing. I made a couple of drill guides on the lathe 1 for 1/4 inch pilot and one for 17/64. I drilled and tapped it and put a plate on it to make sure it doesn't pop off. I will replace them before I do any road driving right now I'm...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

So here's a stupid question I noticed that the U-joints have two grease fittings. Is that just to make it easy or do I have to hit both of them? I've never seen that on a U-joint before that's why I'm asking.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks simp, I actually thought of the needle style after the fact, haven't seen mine in forever, I'll get an other one. I have extra standard tips, might try grinding one down, good Idea. Thanks for always being helpful :goodjob:

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I went crawling under the truck greasing zerks and managed to get most of the U-joints, I couldn't get the ones on the short propeller shaft between the trans and T-case. The grease gun tip is too fat. Does this one require disassembly or is there a thinner grease coupling? I also noticed this...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I fired it up and used it on Culvert clearing Duty with the fire hose and pump. I also picked up a set of troop seats finally although I still need the little side boards in the headache rack. I have more work to do with it and I'm debating whether I should remove the tank for the military...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Interesting I just checked mine the other day and they all passed the test, by flexing them and they returned. Just curious how difficult it was to remove as I was talking to a guy just the other day and he made it sound like they were super difficult and that was on a deuce and a half.
