    I never opened mine (the lid of the moving piston is glued or welded shut), so I don´t know the original wall thickness. Can´t be much, though.

    Which fingers exactly have broken off ? The two thin ones are only needed for installation ( I think to get the distance to the switch unit right) and are intentionally broken off after mounting.
