What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yeah, I took that picture when I first got the steps/cover for future reference. I didn't think to disable the flash.

    I hope this helps

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

If the bushing isn't loose or spinning in the mount, you'll need a 2-1/4" striking wrench. I used a 3 lbs. short sledge to turn it. The striking wrench is the one at the top. It can be a real pain for sure, but that's what it takes to do that job... that and lots of curse words.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The 5 brake hoses were purchased from Memphis Equipment. Really any vendor that sells the hoses are good for that. The Hard lines I bought from 2 places. Fedhill for the 1/4" copper/nickel lines, and the 5/16", and 3/8" steel lines I bought from Eastwood. The hard lines came in 20ft. and 30ft...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

This is how much room I'm working with. I think thats enough room to hang a tank about 29" long. Maybe a little shorter. I don't think with a tank hanging down would be an issue, because it would still be above the bottom of the fuel tank brackets. I'll have to check a couple of big...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You know exactly what I was thinking. My cat walk is off the truck right now, but I have noticed the space in the frame on the passenger side. I was thinking of a frame mount that wouldn't hang off the cat walk, but the short wheel base of the M818 and the drive shaft on the driver side limits...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

My truck is of the M809 series. It has 2 air tanks, but they are connected in way that the two tanks operate as one. There is a very large tube that connects the rear of both tanks. Now the horn has a 1/2" inlet, and an 8" diaphragm. It also operates in the psi range from 100-250psi, and I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Probably not, I would more than likely have to mount additional air tanks some where on the truck.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The name plate is painted over, but we think it's a Kahlenberg D3 naval horn. My Father told me it's a 5 mile horn. Meaning you can hear it clearly for 5 miles away on the Mississippi river. I like to think of it as a bad driver equalizer, and in and around the Memphis area one is needed!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finally made some headway with my fuel tanks I got from Wes. I just picked them up from the weld shop and they fixed it up exactly the way I wanted them. They welded some tabs on the tanks for attaching my vent tubes with p-clamps, and on one of the tanks they welded some threaded fuel bungs...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

BatteryMinders is pretty good. They have some 24v models too. I know I can use my 12 volt version to charge/maintain and disulfate 2 group 8D's I've thought about getting another and mount it on the truck over the batteries for maintaining them. Here's my 12v mounted in a small tool box for...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That's a lot of corrosion for a sealed box. When you put it back together, did you leave the solenoids exposed, or reseal the box?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

2 of the switches I bought from SS members, the other two I found on ebay. The data plates for the switches were designed/commissioned by US6X4. I don't think he made those himself. I gave him the details of what I was looking for, and he didn't disappoint.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Here is where the ditch lights mount on the M809. This is the passenger side mount is a mirror opposite. The mounts do clear the windshield so as to allow it to lay down with out any interference. This is where I'm going to mount the Aux. Driving lights. The benefit of this design is that...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You're Welcome, but all the Thanks goes to you. Your quality work makes this project look like I found some N.O.S. parts, or so my friend from work said earlier today. I knew you put a lot of work into it, but seeing these pics really drive it home.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Just ask US6X4 for a pair of ditch light brackets, that would be a good place to start with some new lights

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Now, I haven't done this to my 5-ton, YET. These just arrived today. It took awhile to get the light brackets, but when work slows down I'll start mounting, painting, and running wires for the new turn signa; lights with markers, new Auxiliary Drive Lights, the new Ditch Lights, and my Infrared...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

When you where installing the new seal, did you use a driver/seating tool, or something else. You can always use the front hub cap to seat the inner seals. I don't this method would work on some different seals, but works well with stock seals.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I guess your setup would definitely put some sunshine on other drivers at night. For the headlight height issue, I have an idea in the works right now. My older M818 has more fender space for lights than yours, so my idea can work on my truck.
