Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

I’m a big fan of painting the canvass. It makes it last sooooo much longer. I have shared my canvass repair method before, but I’ll share it again here. When my 923 tarp wore down to threads in one spot, I did an experiment. I soaked a big 2’x2’ piece of bedsheet as a “patch” in Behr paint and...

Behr Paint Jobs- Show me your MV's

I started using Behr in 2016, so, 5.5 years. Not sure I can say it’s like new without touching up to see the difference, but it has no appearance of fading. It does depend on what you spray. CARC has a heavier more adhesive surface and holds the paint extremely well. But even M1101 or 101...

Have you thought of a satin finish? I have done M923 and a couple trailers satin and it’s super sharp!

Mine was in terrible shape. You can tell it’s a patch, but it looks just fine. I think It’s a good idea to paint covers to protect them against the sun and wind.

On that note, I had a cargo cover that was worn to threads in parts. I painted up to the threads, then I wet a bedsheet with paint and laid it across the damaged area. Then rolled paint across the edges to make sure it sealed. It has held up for 5 years and many 100’s of miles.

That’s strange. Wonder if it was a bad batch? Of course CARC Is like glue for paint. Satin sticks to it well. Even to a finish like the 1101. Satin isn’t quite as forgiving as flat if you aren’t careful when spraying it. I noticed some flat spots that didn’t get enough paint. Maybe it didn’t...

I painted my 923 satin. Super sharp. Also painted an 1101 in satin. Even sharper.

Wouldn’t paint a classic car with it ... but you could. And it would stick. Paint has come a long way. With the latex enamels today, I don’t see much need in ever using an oil based paint again. The Sherwin Williams store recommended a paint for ocean shipping containers. It’s a latex enamel...

I have painted two 923A2’s that gave heavy CARC. So paint sticks like epoxy. I painted a 101A2 and an 1101. Paint sticks (after curing) as well as Rustoleum or any oil based paint. I would paint any MV with this stuff. I even paint tarps with it with great luck.

keep a damp/wet rag on you at all times. Clean that nozzle well. If it’s dry or hot when you spray, I have found there will be some dried paint or clums on the edge of the holes. That could be the cause of the drops.

I actually bought it because I’m remodeling a house and painting three shipping crates. It saves time. Time = money, so it was easy to justify. Have yet yet to hit a truck or trailer with it, but I know it will be awesome!

I have. (Meaning an airless spray rig) They are incredible. No need in waiting for air pressure to build. There is no substitute for a Graco style pump sprayer. Plus, you get a more consistent pattern.

That’s odd. I wonder why they couldn’t mix it? I guess you just have to spray it to see. If they mixed it right, It should look fine. Will be darker than what your sun faded truck is now. Marquee is too thick to spray from a HVLP without thinning. I have used both. See no difference. CARC is...

I have a lot of trouble navigating Pirate 4x4 on my phone. Can’t seem to get to page 1 and the pop-ups are more than annoying. The page keeps reloading and I can’t seem to get to the details. But, what I did see was really cool! Hope you don’t mind a couple questions; What engine are you...

I was thinking just black 37030. I like the blue tint it has. It’s subtle, but comes out more in satin than in flat.

You might consider using satin finish on that. Since there is no rusted flaking CARC, I think satin would look really sharp! Also, make sure you use the military code for black. It has a subtle blue tint that looks really nice. Just a thought!

That’s a really cool project. Looks like you have come a good ways on it. Well done! Will you be posting a build thread? Or any details on the project? You are already coloring outside the lines, so to speak, eliminating brown. You could probably just make up your own pattern now.

Oh, I see. That will be interesting to see it! I was assuming you were painting a truck that had had been sprayed with CARC first. No, Behr isn’t CARC. So, you would be better off priming with an aluminum primer, then painting. I don’t see any need to scuff the surface to paint the black on...

Read the first post here. That will tell you how to get the paint mixed. It’s Green 383 that you want. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?116608-Paint-Information-(Codes-and-Sources)
