NormB, glad you got it all worked out. I have mine registered the same way. And I only use them occasionally for a show, parade , get fuel or exercise 5-10 miles. Never had law enforcement say anything about it. Actually the sheriff's house I can see from mine and I have been invited several...

Not sure what the GVW of a Humvee is but if under 10,000 lbs in Maryland has just got to be 20 years old. A truck over 10,000 lbs is 25 years old with no inspection for historic plates . Looks like you got it made now. Maryland really tightened down on trucks with historic plates. Seems some...

Glad you got it tagged!!! I pay an extra $30 dollar fee here and its worth every penny not to have to deal with the state. I make an appointment, walk in and 10 minutes later done. They actually try to "help" you get things tagged. Go figure!! Yes its a private business like anything else, they...

Not sure on the BMY-Harsco thing. I am curious about that as well. I know AM General goes through no problems. To be used commercially it would need to be state inspected and tagged for its GVW. Don't hold me to it but I think empty weight is around 23k lbs. Add minimum of 5 tons payload and...

Since Maryland is a lot older state than california, I bet Maryland had those town names first. Not sure, just a thought.

Did you have any issues getting it inspected?

That's right, just tagged a M931 yesterday and it also says under gvw N/A. Historic vehicles are tagged with no weight as they are not supposed to be used for commercial purposes. Parades, car shows, special events, etc is what the tag is meant for.

Doesn't matter to the state if it carries anything or not. Its the manufactures GVW they go by. An M35 is under that at 23500 gvw w/w or about 23000 w/o winch. A M813 5 ton has empty weight of about 21000.so its GVW would be about 41,000 gvw including its 10 ton [20,000] on road capacity...

Get an old M35/M813/M923... good to go, just make sure over 25 years old. Maryland has gotten to be a pain state, don't get me started.. although the 5 tons, you will need CDL for because of the air brakes. M813 doesn't have true air brakes, but is heavy. MVA tagged mine at "0" gvw since it was...

I tagged both my M35 [1970] and M813 [1979] as historic. Maryland has been messing with antique laws because of all the junk on the road. I insured through state farm, no problems. Trailers I tag through Maine, don't even need a title for before 1994 I think.. Mine are all 1967/68's so plenty...
